ITO Service Delivery Consultant Unix Delivery Lead North America On-Shore

(Position at Unilever was outsourced to HP, same basic job but working for HP)

Worked for HP as team lead for level 3 UNIX support for NA also working with Latin America and "Offshore Support". Leading a third level support team of 4 people as well as over-viewing the UNIX members within daily operations team and offshore support.

Supported over 250 UNIX and Linux servers, covering local and global operations for Unilever a top 100 company.

Lead the UNIX support team for both existing operations and numerous new projects.

Worked with local and global HP management to set up new contract requirements and transition the environment to HP support levels, tools and processes.

Involved with the customer (Unilever) and HP at a senior level (globally). This covered billing, server support, change management, problem management, project management, security, project management, cost savings and performance.

Troubleshoot issues adding my experience to many other projects and problems.

Worked on the security process and standards, ESM numeration, Proxy/Intenet server control, Installing HP tools, Data center outages and much more.

Unilever June 2000 June 2008

UNIX Tech Support Team Lead

Led the UNIX and database part of the Tech Support group (6 people). Monitored and controlled the system throughout the US. These included HP, IBM, SUN and Linux. Performed third level support for the operations Unix group, as well as developed new systems and working on automation. Produced improved support and automation methods for the control and monitoring of the North American Unilever Data Center.

Troubleshoot many internal and external incidents and problems. Covering senior management as and when required.

Computer security work, server consolidation and cost savings (average over one million a year in savings)

"Disaster Recovery" process creation and testing.

Led projects and upgraded requirements.

Planned trained, and allocated work, liaising with many other global teams.

Shell script creation to aid with automation and notification issues.

Saved the company over 15 million dollars during this time, via decommissioning and contract improvements.

European Foods IMC (Formerly Van den Bergh Foods) May 1988- June 2000

Operations Technical Analyst

EF IMC was a new company that with its sister company in Germany that was set up to control all the IT sites for Unilever (Food Group) across Europe. The plan was for this group to control 4000 servers and 100,000 PC's.

Moved to the new company internally from Van den Bergh's the EF IMC was created from VDB and Birds Eye staff.

At VDB he controlled around 130 servers both local and at many factory sites. From large K class service guard cluster to small E25's and 720's. I have experience with HP-UX 10 & 11, as well as some knowledge of IBM, NT server, and MPE systems.

Work has included out of hour's support, and well as some very large projects.

Liaising with all levels of internal and external personal, to support a 24 x 7 high-availability installation.

During this time he worked on two successful data center migrations, and the creation of a lights out environment.
