EXPERIENCE

QUAD GRAPHICS (Formerly World Color), Mt. Morris, IL 1988 to 2011 (Plant consolidation)

500+ employees / 600K+ sq. ft. division of the international commercial printing company printing Catalogs, Sunday News Magazines, Tab/Inserts and Magazines for leading customers such as CVS and Scholastic Books. The division began in 1898 as Kable Printing Company, changed ownership many times, most recently by Quebecor and World Color. This plant is now being consolidated following the recent acquisition by Quad Graphics in 2010.

Assistant Supervisor / Technician Pre-Media-Pre-Press-IT

Key member of the department leadership team supporting production managers, supervisors and production employees.

Assist with the management, leadership, training, development, job workflow, scheduling, and direction of a team of shift production employees operating in a continuous-production operation working under critical deadline pressure for demanding customers.

Create, develop technical training materials and train personnel in desktop publishing and computer-to-plate (CTP) technologies in this rapidly changing technological environment and industry.

Troubleshoot hardware/software problems and directly manage the Computer-To-Plate (CTP) workflow.

Applied network administrator duties including workstation maintenance and repair, switch /TCPIP setup and maintenance, tape archiving and back up plus working directly with vendors to resolve technical issues.

Communicate with customers, sales, account managers and production leaders and provide technical support, guidance and assistance.

Investigate, problem solve and troubleshoot file errors, equipment issues and maintain equipment service records, and order inventory plus daily production reporting.

I was the principal technical-lead during the emergence of electronic-media from conventional film and pre-press technologies during a rapid, 18 month time-frame.

My career began in applied, conventional pre-press technologies and I quickly learned and adapted to the new technologies and I continue to learn and lead the training and technical adaptation of continuously emerging technologies.

Previous career experience was gained as a Photo-Lithographer with Sundstrand Corporation and as a Camera Operator with Sundberg Printers plus Production Artist with Rockford Silk Screening and Diocese Printing Service. My earliest graphic arts / commercial printing experience began with Northern Illinois University`s -The Northern Star- while attending NIU in DeKalb.

Expert in Kodak Prinergy Evo, Kodak Preps, Kodak Harmony and competent in all Adobe Creative Suite applications.
