Biography
Michelle Campbell is an accomplished marketing and government relations executive whose
career spans the full spectrum of marketing disciplines and includes expertise in public
policy and organizational advocacy. She has served two large New Mexico organizations in
marketing roles with progressively expanding scope and achievement.
Ms. Campbell s most recent experience has been as Vice President of Marketing and
Communications for Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque where she worked
to improve the health of New Mexicans for 15 years. As the state s largest healthcare
organization, more than 710,000 customers one out of three citizens receives services
from Presbyterian hospitals, physicians or health plans. Michelle led a team of employed
and agency professionals who helped bring Presbyterian brand identity and market share
to leading positions. To support the growing system, Campbell consistently evolved the
capabilities of marketing programs and government relations services in an increasingly
competitive environment and complex industry.
Marketing services provided by Michelle s team attracted and retained health plan members, built physician practices, grew
hospital service lines and increased donations to the Presbyterian Foundation. Communication services included internal
programs to support leader, employee and physician engagement. An integrated public relations function provided issues
management and media relations. Key outreach activities included leadership of the annual New Mexico Governors Prayer
Breakfast and Presbyterian s Legislative Appreciation Dinner. Community partnership programs included design of an
innovative clinical outreach service to bring free care to uninsured adults living with diabetes and a multi-dimensional
Centennial celebration, where Campbell served as lead executive and senior editor for Presbyterian s 100-year history book.
Ms. Campbell led Presbyterian s government relations team by working with business owners, community leaders, government
officials, New Mexico legislators and the Congressional delegation to influence passage of constructive healthcare policy. She
managed policy during the annual New Mexico Legislative session, contributed to state Medicaid policy development and
guided efforts to increase federal Medicare funding.
Prior to joining Presbyterian, Ms. Campbell worked in corporate communications for Public Service Company of
New Mexico and served as Director of Communication Programs for six years where she led employee and customer
c ommunications programs for the state s largest electric utility.
Awards for personal and team achievements include a New York Advertising Federation Silver Effie for Presbyterian s 2004
brand campaign, over 20 Addy awards from the New Mexico Advertising Federation, recognition as a 2007 Health Care
Power Broker by New Mexico Business Weekly, and Executive Women International Member of the Year in 1996 for her work to
establish legal defense funding for victims of domestic violence.
Ms. Campbell is currently serving as a board member for the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and New Mexico
First. Past community service activities include an appointment to Governor Bill Richardson s healthcare transition team in
2007, six years on the national governing board of the Presbyterian Church Ghost Ranch Conference Center and four years
as an Examiner for Quality New Mexico. Ms. Campbell also served two terms as president of the National Association for
Corporate Speaker Activities. She belongs to the Leaders Board for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing Professionals and the
Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
Ms. Campbell received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of New Mexico. She is married to Albuquerque
contractor John Campbell. Michelle and John are both licensed single-engine pilots.
