Professional Deming Luna Mimbres Museum July 2007 to Present
ExperienceVolunteer Deming, New Mexico
I have been doing consulting work at the local museum. I have always liked the museum and wanted to help them. I am glad I have the opportunity.
As a docent at the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, I conduct guided tours, and educate people on the local history and how society has changed over time. And thus have gained a great deal of knowledge and experience imparting these facts to groups.
As a volunteer at the local museum I catalogue documents in archives, document photographs in preparation for a computer database and also review records on displayed artifacts. My duties also entail greeting visitors from various backgrounds, answering questions about the museum, its local history, and manage the museum store. In the museum store I assist visitors with purchasing items, recording sales and counting the register. I am always available to assist with opening and closing the museum, writing various documents, and assisting in display creation. I am continuously learning other aspects of the museum including general management of the facility, bringing in local historical displays, and purchasing inventory for the museum store.

Writing Tutor Deming, New Mexico
I enjoyed being a writing tutor and found it very fulfilling. Unfortunately this position was eliminated. As a writing tutor I assisted students to write at a collegiate level. I also reinforced formal writing styles taught by the professors. The numerous research papers and projects I wrote in History and Sociology aided as well. During this employment, I engaged all students with different backgrounds and education levels.
My ability to adapt and create has been aided by my enjoyment of writing original stories.

Program Manager Deming, New Mexico
As the Program Manager at Western New Mexico University-Deming Branch, my duties included research for local grants, a liaison between the branch office and WNMU, and writing documents/creating presentations for research for the Director. I also enrolled students using WNMU computer systems/software, accepted and documented tuition payments and finalized students within thecomputer system. I assisted with General Development Testing. I offered support to New Mexico Works, sold books and recorded sales within WNMU inventory systems. As program manager I also gained a working knowledge of required classes for different degree plans. The staff at WNMU-Deming is small and each person performs all duties as needed as a result my skills and abilities were developed in different areas. In addition, I was also the writing tutor per students needs.
