2010– 2012 Purchasing / Supply Chain Manager, Production

COMPOSITES ATLANTIC LIMITED, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada

A mid-sized company that manufactures composite components for aircraft, which is part of the EADS Group. I managed a team of buyers whose main focus was to keep the production levels high while keeping inventories very low. Worked very closely with Production and Planning. My background in automotive has helped me exceed the goals set by Management.

Managed five buyers whose tasks included purchasing every component for our entire production facility with a strong focus on improving cash flow by drastically reducing inventory by over $1 million. Annual spend averaged $20 million Canadian dollars. Purchased components include fabricated metal details made of titanium & aluminum, prepreg, dry fabrics and assorted hardware for military and civilian aircraft. I was also a working Manager buying all of the complex metal details for our entire production. Responsible for strategic and operational supply chain activities; negotiating pricing, payment terms and various contracts with existing suppliers, materials management, logistics and assisted in quality audits of suppliers. Conducted weekly/monthly meetings with my staff, cross-functional departmental meetings and generated Powerpoint presentations for Senior Management. Japanese Corp that makes relays, health care products and has a small automotive division. I worked in the automotive section with Engineers, Quality personnel and Manufacturing to develop power window switches for Ford, GM and Chrysler. Managed entire projects with heavy emphasis on controlling and keeping costs and timing in line with budgets which included regular meetings with Program Management, Engineering, Logistics, and Quality departments. Contract negotiations of Non-Disclosure (NDA), Long-Term (LTA), Quality (QA) and Tooling Agreements (TA) with suppliers.Successfully negotiated more favorable Accounts Payable terms (from 30 to 60 days) with 30% of existing suppliers as well as 90-day payment terms with 10% of suppliers.

A mid-sized company that makes brake and clutch lines and had a small division that made ABS Systems for motorcycles. Worked as a Purchasing Manager managing two buyers and worked with Engineers to ensure that they designed our cutting edge ABS System to cost.

- Supervised two buyers whose tasks included purchasing every out-sourced component for our entire 2 wheel division product line. Reduced material costs by altering the existing design / and or use of new suppliers – a saving of 20% on our ABS Systems.Negotiated a variety of contractual agreements with our high-risk suppliers.Decision Maker in the "Make or Buy" decision process.Developed the 2006 annual budget (including staffing requirements) of 15 Million Euro.Responsible for both strategic and operational supply chain activities; auditing and releasing new suppliers, quality audits of existing suppliers and materials management.Reduced the number of suppliers by 35% using turnover analysis.

Major U.S. Corp that makes nearly everything for cars. Has an interior division that makes interior electronic items such as instrument clusters, clocks, heating A/C controls (HVAC), trip computers, etc. Same role as at Omron but much more complicated parts.Worked with mechanical and electrical Engineers to ensure that our new products were designed to cost and was a key team member of a team consisting of the Engineering, Planning, Scheduling and Quality departments.Successfully reduced development time by approx. 10% in a very fast-paced environment by modifying existing designs and pushing engineers to complete drawings on time.Used lean manufacturing to increase inventory turns from 3 to 7.

1999 – 2001 Product Manager & Buyer

TRANSTEC AG, T bingen, Germany

Company was like a smaller Dell or Gateway. I worked buying Microsoft products, 19 industrial racks and PC components like video cards, cases, CPUs, motherboards.

- Product management and purchasing of computer hardware components, 19 storage systems, as well as Microsoft and Linux-based software.Managed material and process work flow in combination with other departments to avoid stock outs. Handled all logistics to and from China while working in a very fast paced, team setting.

1996 – 1999 General & Operations Manager - Europe

K.C. ELECTRONICS, Mt. Vernon, NY

Small electronics broker that bought and sold memory chips, electronics parts and software worldwide. Memory was hard to get in 1996 so they set up a satellite office in Germany which I managed from a home office.Set up a satellite office of K.C. Electronics in Germany and managed the entire European operation in conjunction with HQ in New York.Handled all logistics for semiconductors and memory products into/out of Europe.Managed sales of product line to European customers including large OEMs and brokers.Succeeded in finding new customers for our semiconductors and other product lines, such as our hugely successful program called Print Screen .

1994 – 1996 Product Manager & Buyer

VOBIS MICROCOMPUTER AG, Germany

Company was like a smaller Dell or Gateway. Please see my role at Transtec AG for more information. Transtec AG and Vobis Microcomputers were the same except that Vobis sold PCs to end users whereas Transtec only sold computer systems to businesses.

1983 – 1994 Technical Representative – later Group Leader (Managed 4 sites)

MEASUREX, INC. (now owned by Honeywell), Toronto, Canada

Company was sold to Honeywell in 2000. Was a California-based concern that sold industrial process control computers to control continuous processes like paper making, plastics extrusion, steel and energy sectors.Maintained process control equipment in various continuous flow and batch flow processes for the paper, energy and plastic extrusion business sectors which was owned by Measurex.Hardware used was HP and DEC computers, while Measurex made the software and sensors.Repaired equipment quickly to minimize downtime and was on 24 hour call.Prepared monthly reports and had weekly meetings with the end customer.As Group Leader, I managed 3 other technicians and prepared reports for senior management.
