PRESIDENT S MESSAGE
Change! Change! Change! Why can t things just stay the same? Why do we need to
have a new Archbishop? Why are many parishes going to have a new pastor? Why is
it time to have a change in our Portland Serra Club leadership? I suppose that is just the
way life works.
Support our Priests
The other day I was going through our Serran membership and I realized why there is

such a need for new members. We have many very long-term Serrans who have pro-
Say a Prayer vided and will continue to provide much energy for our various activities. But it s time to
make sure there are new members who will continue the good work of Serra.
At this time approximately 40% of our Portland Serrans have experienced their 80th
birthday and over 30% have experienced their 70th birthday. Most are still very active in
Serran activities. But they would love to have some new members who could share the
load .
One of our most important goals presently is to establish vocation ministries in many
M AY parishes which presently do not have such a ministry. We need potential Serrans who
live in these parishes to come on board .

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOHN HENICK
John Henick, a beloved Serran and dear friend, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2012 at his home with
his family. We will forever miss his good nature, his endearing smile, his laughter and whole-hearted en-

May he rest in internal peace.
