EXPERIENCE 5/1998 - Department of Public Harrisburg,
12/2002 Welfare PA
Project: ChildLine System
Role: SQL Server DBA
Environment: SQL Server 7.0/2000, DTS, Replication, Stored
Procedures, Triggers, Visual Basic, Crystal Reports.
This System is developed in SQL Server 7.0 with Visual Basic
as the Front-end. This System is used to record the Child /
Student Abuses. This system is developed for Department of
Public Welfare, PA. When a Phone Call comes from the Public
/ County about abuses, the information is recorded in the
Main Office. The data is transmitted to the county for
investigation. Once the investigation is done, again the
data is transferred back to the Main Office. The Main Office
(State) maintains all the data and it is expunged as per the
State Laws.
My primary responsibilities in this project include:
Database design and data modeling using ERWIN.
Installation of SQL Server in the Server and Client PC's.
Maintenance of SQL Server Databases.
Creation of Stored Procedures, Functions, and Triggers.
Creation of users, assigning privileges and tuning up of
system performances
Transferring data's to the counties through Replication.
Involved in Conversion of data from old system. The data is
loaded into the SQL Server database by Data Transformation
Services.
Performance monitoring and database tuning.
Prepare and execution of Disaster Recovery plan
Generating adhoc reports for internal customers using Query
Analyzer.
Review, test and deploying new application releases.
Involved in the development of reports in Crystal Reports
8.5 both for internal and external customers.
Triggers are used to enforce security authorizations and
also to keep an audit trial of a table. This project also
involves conversion of data from Old System. The data is
loaded into the SQL Server Database by DTS. Created
Necessary scripts to load the data into the SQL Server
Database.
Most of the reports are done through Crystal Report. In all
the modules, the user has an option to view the report on
the Screen or to print the report. The User can even print
selected pages of the report. The User can even download
the report data into any format like PDF, Word etc. I have
developed some of the reports in HTML Format. This gives
the user additional features by scrolling the report back
and forth. All the modules are totally Menu-driven and all
changes to the system are recorded in the audit table.
