Replaced existing three-lane bridge to ease congestion of the Interstate 95/495 artery crossing Potomac River.
Construction of 17 bridge piers (11 in the Potomac), 35 cofferdam cells and up to 72-inch steel pipe piles
ranging from 160 to 210 feet long.
Smith Creek Parkway (Wilmington, NC) 2001
Budget: $61.3M
Part of MLK Parkway/Wilmington Loop project involving 12 structures and over 2500 meters of roadway.
Complex construction projects including widening and rehabilitation of two existing drawbridges.
I-95 Falling Creek Bridge (Richmond, VA) 2000
Budget: $9M
Replacement of existing superstructure, structural steel, Cast-In-Place deck and barriers for heavily congested
bridge on Interstate I-95 south of Richmond VA.
Project involved complicated traffic control and 73,000 square foot of bridge deck replacement, 9 cofferdams,
and 900 tons of structural steel.
Project was kept on schedule and completed on time despite major VDOT redesign after start of construction.
I-264/Military Highway HOV Lanes (Norfolk, VA) 1998
Budget: $57M
Virginia DOT contract to widen Interstate 264 and build an interchange at State Route 13 in Virginia Beach.
Over 15 miles of roadway and eight bridges involved in rehabilitation and widening of highway.
Enforced strict traffic safety measures and set additional safety standards for construction access and travel,
resulting in no loss time of employees due to injury.
George P. Coleman Bridge (Yorktown/Gloucester, VA) 1996
Budget: $78M
VDOT contract to replace the two-lane George P. Coleman Bridge and its approaches with new double swing
span four lane structure, with an overall length of 3,750 feet.
Project involved ‘float-in’ construction of new 6 bridge spans from 40 miles away and implosion of old bridge.
Float-in construction was completed in nine days, earning a substantial bonus.
