EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR WILLIAM PALMER
LOCATED IN ATANTA, GEORGIA
*******@****.***
Mr. Palmer, and his professional services company (21st Century Business
Systems, Inc.) became a Lotus business partner in the 1994 time period,
recognizing Lotus Notes as an emerging valuable software development tool
for information systems with collaboration, workflow, document management,
high availability, and flexible security requirements. This relationship
with Lotus became a premium IBM partnership in 1998 and has subsequently
transitioned to membership in the IBM Partnerworld for Software (PWSW)
organization. Our partnership with Lotus and IBM has encompassed the
development, maintenance and administration of Notes applications beginning
with Release 3 and continuing today with Release 8.5 and the forthcoming
Release 9, currently in beta test. The company also has a business partner
relationship with Microsoft.
He has experience in all aspects of information system design ranging from
the identification of requirements to the coding and testing of production
Notes applications as well as the administration of Notes/Domino servers.
He provides excellent verbal and written communication skills to help
clients identify, understand and articulate their business process areas
eligible for improvement and change. These skills are applicable whether a
new system is being built from initial concept, existing systems are being
enhanced, conducting application roll out classes or simply explaining how
an application feature works to a new user.
In addition to the fundamental tool, IBM Notes/Domino itself, Mr. Palmer
and 21st Century have adopted a design methodology known as the Data Flow
Diagram (DFD) using Microsoft Visio. The DFD is particularly suited to
Notes development. It enables the development team and the client user
team to jointly understand the same requirements documentation in an easily
understood graphical presentation. But because of its rigor, it also
enables the developers to directly translate the requirements into the
fundamental components of a Notes design, namely, wire frames, views,
forms, and agents, further easing the task of interfacing with the clients.
Mr. Palmer also utilizes the inherent "prototype early and often"
capabilities of Lotus Notes to bring the client user team along in the
development process.
Mr. Palmer has integrated Lotus Notes applications with a variety of other
information systems using various tools including Lotus Enterprise
Integrator (LEI) and ReplicAction (for large scale database integration),
LotusScript Extensions, DECS, ODBC, XML import/export, Apache web server,
Crystal Report Writer. Third party systems interfaced in this manner
include several ERP packages such as SAP, BPCS, Dynamics, Mr. Palmer also
maintains a number of development environments including Release 6, 7, 8,
and 9 to support clients using earlier, current and future versions of
Notes.
Mr. Palmer can support clients on a short term or long term contract basis.
Generally short term (3 to 6 month) contracts are more satisfactory since
this provides Mr. Palmer with periodic "down time" to refresh skills and
conduct internal product development. He communicates and collaborates
well with users, administrators, developers, and managers in order to
identify quick wins, define and review requirements, build design documents
as appropriate and necessary, and conduct demonstrations to obtain and
maintain customer buy in to the design. And finally he can provide
training and help desk support, especially during system roll out.
Mr. Palmer received a BA degree in Mathematics, 1963 from Occidental
College, Los Angeles, California.
RECENT WORK HISTORY SYNOPSIS
2012 to 2013 21ST Century Systems
Entered IBM's MobileFirst program to gain certification in both sales and
development. MobileFirst is a set of solution portfolios providing
solutions to app development, deployment, security, device management, and
analysis over the four smartphone devices (iPhone, Windows 8, Android, and
Blacckberry) as well as for various tablets (iPad, Surface, Android). At
the core of MobileFirst is IBM Worklight which facilitates the development
of a single codebase capable of running on any of the mobile devices
mentioned.
Entered TeamStudio's Unplugged partner program to enable Notes applications
to be easily mobilized on iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and Blackberry
phones using the XPage capabilities of Notes 8.5. These applications can
run without internet connectivity since Unplugged is a "thin" Notes client
running on the Smartphone or tablet and is capable of bi-directional
replication with Domino servers when connectivity is available.
2000 to 2011 DENSO Sales California (DSCA)
DSCA is the North American sales and distribution entity for DENSO Japan, a
major automotive parts manufacturer and a member of the Toyota Group.
Responsible for all Notes application development, migration from Release 4
to Release 7, management and support of Notes administration. Supported
DSCA IT operations with up to 4 Notes developers and administrators as
contractors at various times.
Applications developed included a corporate purchase requisition workflow
and integration with an ERP system (BPCS), various material and process
quality tracking systems, invoice, statement and purchase order archive
systems for "paperless" operation, a special purpose product ordering
system with workflow and ERP integration, a variety of customer
relationship management applications for various sales department, a
document management system for all engineering drawings, a system for
tracking and managing all customer complaints. These systems were all
justified on the basis of reduced costs to manage the processes by
enhancing collaboration and communication among the participants in the
various processes. Many of these applications involved extensive
interfacing with DB2 tables hosted on an IBM System i server (aka Power
Systems) mainframe.
1997 to 2000 The Aerospace Corporation
Aerospace is a federally funded research and development company providing
services primarily to the US Air Force.
Member of the Knowledge Management Department team, performing Notes
application development
Participated in the migration from Release R4 to R5
Managed and participated in the Year 2000 testing and remediation of all
Notes applications
Developed the corporate tracking application for all Year 2000 (Y2K)
