Master Behavior Detection Officer (MBDO)
Provided "Hands Off" distant Screening of passengers with observation and points methodology with individuals who hit a particular threshold advancing into more in-depth investigation with a combination of observation and physical screening. Worked with various partners and in teams. Taking the lead position in mentoring my colleagues. Received additional training in Basic Behavior Pattern Recognition (BPR), Micro Expression Training Tools (METT) and Subtle Expression Training Tools (SETT). Participated in Visible Intermodal Prevention Response (VIPR) with airport Federal Air Marshall Service (FAMS), communicated with FAMS airport liaison on certain referral requiring law enforcement intervention, and attended training with FAMS at current duty station. Participated in Operation Shield/Surface VIPR at Chicago federal building in May 2011 with multiple agencies from federal, state and local municipalities.
Completed training requirements prescribed by the Transportation Security Administration, implement established methodologies to recognize suspicious behaviors and activities based on indications of fear, stress, and deception cues exhibited by individuals of the air-traveling public. Maintain understanding of predictable, routine human behaviors and the ability to recognize deviations from these behavioral norms. Assess multiple individuals concurrently and consider all incriminating factors used to determine whether elevated suspicion is justified in implicating individuals potentially involved in criminal or terrorist activities. Collaborate closely with security team members to assess individuals and their behaviors. Document incriminating factors and identified behaviors exhibited by suspects and report all suspicious activities and behaviors to superior officers. Utilize identified behaviors as bases for referrals, refer individuals for additional screening using casual communication, selectee screening and or LEO intervention. Maintain ongoing and unambiguous communication with superior officers and upper management during security breach events. Complete incident reports for use by law enforcement involved in an incident.
