Work Experience
Summer 2001
Cape Cod Sea Camps Brewster, MADirector of Tennis
ProgramsPlanned, organized, supervised, and implemented the tennis program for a Resident
Camp of 380 children. Contributed to the programs success in several ways:-Planned and
organized drills, activities, and games for approximately 25 campers who chose tennis for
each of the 5 periods that tennis was offered daily.-Taught and supervised 2 Assistant
Dept. Heads, 12 Counselors, 20 Majors, and a few Junior Counselors to teach, test, and
improve 300+ kids. Recognized by director for the programs success: Ian is incredibly
flexible with new situations. He is an intelligent young man who easily adapted to our
complex program. This 4 year [Junior Counselor (JC)] training program requires great
oversight by the department heads where JCs choose to majorIan was able to adapt his
lessons and teaching focus to address the individual needs of the campers and ultimately
to steer them towards accomplishing the goals necessary to pass their desired levels.-
Headed group meetings and motivational talks weekly, and presented event updates and level
awards biweekly to a group of 22 and a crowd of nearly 500, respectively.-Suggested and
improved the departments format for testing. -Delegated responsibility to my Assistant
Heads in my absence or whenever supplemental supervision was required.-Maintained grounds
checks and equipment repairs, oversaw purchases for equipment and prizes, and organized
inter-camp tournaments and an end-of-summer intra-camp camper-counselor doubles tourney.
The Director remarked, A testament to Ians creativity and initiative was his drive to
put together a camper/counselor tennis tournament involving over 100 people...during the
very busy last week of camp.
