The majority of the research projects concerns the confrontation of the problems of mining

activity in Greece, taking into consideration technical, economic and environmental

criteria. More specifically:

Design of surfsace mining in order to optimize the environmental and economic

attributes of mining activity.

Investment analysis of extractive activities.

Strategic planning of aggregate quarrying activities taking into consideartion the

principle sof sustainable development.

Utilization of by-products and waste materials, in order to improve the technical,

economic and environmental indices of a quarrying activity (especially marble

quarries).

Reformation of the landscape of the final excavation pit and selection of the most

suitable post mining land uses, so as the rehabilitation of site can be affordable and

beneficial for the society.
