As a shift leader, I execute various armed security duties in support of USAF force protection objectives. On Dobbins ARB, I support the installation security forces role of close in sentry, close boundary sentry, flight line entry controller and security response team leader. As flight line entry controller supervisor I insure that only personnel authorized by the wind commander have access to the aircraft parked there. This is accomplished by insuring personnel are displaying valid restricted area badges, are on validated entry authority lists and have at least one supporting form of identification. As security response team leader, I patrol the flight line and surrounding area remaining alert for unusual or suspicious activity, preposition aircraft in the transit area for passenger service, refueling and aircraft maintenance. I focus my attention on likely avenues of approach to the aircraft parking area and respond immediately to any incident that may be radioed in by another post or patrol on the flight line. When responding I plan and select the most advantageous routes and tactics to be used and direct the movement of my security response team member. If I see that the situation requires deviation from established procedures, I resolve the problem on the spot using minimum force, then notify the desk sgt. who makes a blotter entry. I have been assigned as assistant flight sgt. and team leader on numerous deployments overseas to support active units, many times where facilities and resources are exposed.
