Patient Service Representative
Maintain a specific group of mentally ill patient's accounts to determine a patient's eligibility for payment options.
Made sure that all material needed to bill a third party carrier and patient payment agreement are sufficient to assure resolution of each account and establish prior to transfer to Patient Billing Section.
Typical duties include interviewing patients and relatives or guardians to obtain pre-admission information; admit patients by completing appropriate forms and procedures.
Conduct a financial evaluation of each patient to determine ability to meet financial obligations; based upon financial evaluation.
Determine if patient has linkage to Medi-cal/Medicaid and assist them in completing a Medi-Cal or Social Security application.
Evaluate and verify insurance coverage and complete insurance forms, maintain contact with admitted patients to monitor insurance coverage in order to assure that patients are transferred to appropriate programs when financial need arises.

Tracked client movement on and off the unit by documenting times and destinations of clients.
Checked facility for open windows, locked doors, malfunctioning smoke detectors and other safety hazards.
