SUMMARY:

Performed HW/SW design and integration testing for high fidelity simulation/virtual

reality products and for embedded S/W that controlled Time & Frequency Generator devices.

The design process took into account all stakeholder needs, including clients, hardware

designers, marketing and manufacturing so that optimum integration of product components

was accomplished. Over ten years experience designing real-time control S/W and 3D

graphics display S/W. Extensive experience in S/W design specification and user interface

use case development.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

SYMMETRICOM

(formerly TrueTime), Santa Rosa, CA 20022010Senior Embedded S/W Design Engineer

S/W designer

for real-time embedded control S/W for Time & Frequency Generator Devices.

Product development involved extending the devices capabilities with numerous options and

upgrades to meet customers growing requirements.

Integrated Motorola M12 / iLotus / Pentar-Furuno GPS Receivers into Time & Frequency

Generator Device.

Integrated Rockwell GB-GRAM GPS Receiver into Time & Frequency Generator device using ICD-

153 communication protocol.

Developed IEEE-1588 Precise Time Protocol Interface and Control S/W for Time & Frequency

Generator device.

Developed UI Control Web pages using Wind River RapidControl Web Server and Apache/PHP

Web Server

TrueTime, Santa Rosa, CA 20012002Embedded S/W Systems Designer

Developed User Interface use cases and performed S/W implementation, unit testing and

production testing to achieve on-time production release of the Time & Frequency Generator

devices.

Architected and designed real-time control S/W for XLi and XL-GPS Time & Frequency

Generator devices. Applied Wind River VxWorks, Metrowerks

Codewarrier, MKS Code Management System and Windows Op System development environments to

achieve efficient S/W development. Designed and developed front panel and network User

Interface control S/W for the timing devices.

SYNERGIA LLC, Redwood City, CA 1998 - 2000Simulation Systems Architect

Lead the S/W technical team for designing simulations of organizational practices and

dynamics. A distributed computational engine was developed using a LAN ethernet interface

with unicast/multicast communication protocols. The simulation servers were controlled and

monitored by a Java based user interface over the internet. Development responsibilities

included writing the simulation performance specification, developing and testing the S/W,

and coordinating the work of team members.

NASA-Ames, Moffett Field, CA 19921998Flight Simulation Systems S/W Designer

Lead the S/W technical team for conducting experiments at the Human Factors Research

Facility s Advanced Cab Flight Simulator (ACFS). Responsible for S/W test and integration,

program management statusing and implementing customer use cases of simulator S/W

features. S/W client/server architecture and multitasking priority strategies were

developed for the research simulator system.

Designed real-time control S/W using Silicon Graphics workstations, CASE Visions Debugger

and the Unix-IRIX/C language development environment to support laboratory tests of pilot-

to-instrumentation interface in commercial passenger aircraft.

Designed and implemented a desktop flight simulator using SGI Graphics Library tools for

rapid prototyping of avionics graphics displays and flight predictor algorithms.

Performed requirements analysis for conducting lab tests of an air traffic controller-to-

pilot communications protocol.
