My primary position requires me to be competent at safely maintaining a fast paced chip yard. Duties include operating a hydraulic truck dump, loading mill waste into trucks for removal, keeping large chip piles groomed and feeding a constant flow of chips into the pulp mill for processing. Much of this work is done operating a 450 Komatsu front end loader. I also perform the job of Refiner Operator for approximately four months out of the year. Using an ABB computer system, I monitor two 35,000 HP pulp refiners. Two main responsibilities are monitoring stock flows to storage tanks and ensuring an acceptable effluent flow into the Spokane River.
