Craven Community College, New Bern, NC 2008 - Present
Comprehensive community college with a branch campus in Havelock; serves 4000 credit and
15,000 non-credit students; 50+ AA, AS, AAS, Diploma and Certificate programs; $28 million
budget; 250 staff and 100 full time faculty.
Spearheaded the creation of the College s Strategic Plan Many Voices One Vision: Craven
2015 leading to new offerings in Physical Therapy Assistant and Composites and new
initiatives such as the Global Institute and Community Connections (African American,
Cultural Arts. EMS).
Initiated participation in national Foundations of Excellence Program and launch of First
Year Experience Program and action plan.
Restructured the college to focus on academic excellence, service and leadership;
strengthened military affairs, workforce development, professional development, college
transfer, student advising, educational partnerships, career placement and student
engagement; added dedicated staff to oversee these areas.
Hired a full-time grant writer; secured over $3 million in funding for programs such as TRIO
and the Alliance of Advanced Manufacturing since 2009.
Revitalized the Foundation Board and hired a new Executive Director; initiated the
Community Fabric Awards netting nearly $20,000 to the endowment for this first time
event.
Supported the development of innovative partnerships; strengthening collaboration with
the military, business, universities and K-12 (C-Step, Early Colleges, Southern Indiana
University)
Initiated an assessment of marketing materials and branding of the College; development of a
comprehensive Marketing Plan is underway; commissioned the college s first Viewbook and
redesign of the website.

Comprehensive community college with 4 extension centers serving 6,000 students; 46 AA, AS
and AAS degree programs; $48 million budget; 900 staff and 137 full time faculty.
Authored the college s first Academic Master Plan 2005-2010 revitalizing programs,
curriculum and laboratories; instituted a comprehensive Annual Report to assess
accomplishments.
Provided leadership in concert with the President and Orange County Government to create
a master facilities plan and to build an $87 million branch campus in Newburgh, NY.
Revitalized the Library and instituted an Information Commons to serve as a learning hub
for students and faculty; instituted a state-of-art teleconference seminar room for training.
Created Learning Alive magazine, a publication highlighting academic affairs faculty,
programming and partnerships; redesigned the college catalog and academic affairs web
site.
Initiated the Global Initiative to create greater multicultural understanding and an
interdisciplinary focus across the curriculum; constructing a $1.2 million Gilman Center for
International Studies.
Member of the Executive Committee of a 4-college consortium focused on partnering to
deliver joint programming for emergency preparedness; lead institution and developer for
Cyber Security.
Spearheaded the creation of a Center for Teaching & Learning aligne d with the instructional
technology learning lab to provide professional development for faculty and staff.

Oversaw the Small Business Incubator, a revitalization effort for the West End Bayside
