EXPERIENCE (Contract unless otherwise stated)
w Designed, wrote, and tested an integrated PC-based Point Of Sale
invoice backup system in MS Access and RPG/ILE. It provides invoices
when the network is down and communication to the AS400-based P.O.S.
system is interrupted. Current pricing and customer data is pushed
into the remote PCs each week from the AS400.
w Designed, wrote, and implemented programs to connect an AS400 DB2
data-base system with MS project (PC-based) for a large paper mill on
the AS400 in COBOL/400/RPG/ILE and VBasic. Also upgraded an older
system converting flat files into DB2 files while eliminating
redundant programs, data and files.
w Designed, wrote, and tested changes to an information system for a
large health care organization on the AS400 in RPG/400 and RPG/ILE to
conform to new government regulations. Also wrote queries, CL programs
and utilities.
w Worked on a team to do a Y2K conversion for a large paper mill on
the AS400 in COBOL/400. Was responsible for data conversion of all
systems. Also wrote queries, CL programs and utilities.
w Designed, wrote, and tested an employee hire and tracking system in
MS Access for a government-affiliated employment service for the
handicapped.
w Designed, wrote, and tested a network-based dispatch and invoice
system for a small trucking company in MS Access. Also set up the
network (Windows 95).
w Designed, wrote, and tested a manufacturing inventory control system
for a medium-sized utility furniture manufacturer in MS Access.
w Wrote and tested a human resource benefit update system for a large
construction company in MS Access and RPG/400 to allow users to modify
an employee's benefits from a PC so that the J.D. Edwards system on
the AS400 could be updated.
w Designed, wrote, and tested a quote tracking system for a large
building supply company (in RPG on the AS400) to prevent salesmen from
bidding on the same job as well as track the reasons the bid was won
or lost.
w Designed, wrote, and tested a system in AS400 COBOL for a national
finance and loan company to interface with a new loan origination
system (on the front end) as well as Xpoint printer software (Forms
Express on the back end).
w Designed, wrote, and tested a system to manage the movement of all
materials within a large warehouse (dispatch system). All equipment in
the warehouse carried a terminal (RF) and a laser scanner. The
driver's entire day (except for lunch and breaks) is directed by the
dispatch programs (AS400).
w Modified an existing warehouse tracking system to track all store
business for a newly acquired fast food store franchise. Also set up
new PC's, connected them up to the token ring, and purchased needed
software for connectivity (AS400).
w Supported a BPCS 2.0 System for a major PC manufacturer while the
conversion to BPCS 4.0 was taking place. Also helped in the conversion
phase and wrote some rudimentary client server applications (AS400).
w Designed, wrote, and tested programs written for a mainframe
distribution system to run on an AS400 system running Wynstar (a
proprietary distribution system).
w Designed, wrote, and tested a new front end order entry system for a
large lamp manufacturer. Also worked directly with users on new
applications (AS400).
w Designed, wrote, and tested an electronic carrier interface system
(medical, dental, vision and FSA plans) for AS400 and 3033 mainframe.
w As a project leader, designed, wrote, and tested a new payroll
calculation system for a large defense and research company (IBM
mainframe).
w Maintained and wrote new programs for savings and checking as well
as other banking systems in several banks (mainframe).
w Converted business systems from Honeywell GCOS to IBM mainframe for
a large aerospace company (IBM mainframe).
w Wrote new human resource system for a large aerospace company and
trained the department (22 people) on PCs (IBM mainframe).
w Converted an inventory system from 7074 AUTOCODER to O.S. COBOL for
an aircraft and space hardware manufacturing company (IBM mainframe).

classes, teaching, and answering tech support lines for a popular IBM
mainframe 4th generation language for 5 years (employee).
