Dear HR Representative,

I am seeking a challenging technical position as an Informatica ETL and Oracle developer. I have extensive experience in both Informatica 6.2 and Oracle SQL*Plus and PL/SQL programming (Oracle 7, 8, and 9i) in a Solaris environment. As recently as August of this year, I was the Informatica 6.2 task lead for the data ingestion subsystem of a behavior detection application developed for brokerages and banks. This application included more than 150 Informatica mappings and 100 workflows. I have been developing Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers for about 10 years. During my recent Informatica work, I developed PL/SQL procedures that are called from Informatica workflows.

I am accustomed to working in a team environment, working effectively with management, subject matter experts, system architects, requirements analysts, data analysts, developers, testers, and technical writers. I have excellent verbal and written communications skills and a work ethic second to none.

In additional to the solid and extensive technical expertise highlighted in my resume, I have always believed that solid functional knowledge of the enterprise, including its processes and data, is essential in the early stages of the software development life cycle. As shown in my resume, I have experience in various government systems (Department of Homeland Security and DoD), healthcare (Medicare fraud), brokerages and financial markets (detection of brokerage employee fraud, anti-money laundering), and military aviation. Half the fun is getting to know the data!

I am presently working for SRA International in Arlington, Virginia. A change in personal circumstances requires that I seek employment as close as possible to Knoxville, TN or Tampa, FL. As indicated by my work experience, I offer dedication, loyalty, and commitment to my employer, and I expect the same in return. As evidence of this commitment, consider that I have only worked for 3 employers in my 26 year career ... the U.S. Air Force, SRA International, and Mantas Inc. (an SRA spinoff company).

If my qualifications suit the requirements of this position, please contact me at you earliest convenience. The best contact number is my cell phone, 703-***-****..

Thanking you most sincerely for your time and consideration.

Cordially,

Bruce Megahan

Information Engineering

Mantas Orion, BrFAML, BIP, and EAML products - These Mantas products are data mining and behavior detection applications, initially developed and deployed for Charles Schwab and U.S. Trust to detect money-laundering activity in brokerage and banking data. As task lead, I was responsible for designing and developing the Informatica data ingestion subsystem of the Mantas Orion product. This product integrates the data models and data ingestion subsystems of 3 legacy Mantas products Brokerage, Fraud, and Anti-Money Laundering (BrFAML), Brokerage Investor Protection (BIP), and Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (EAML) ... into a single data model and data ingestion subsystem. Previously developed the data model for the BrFAML and BIP products and served as lead developer for their data ingestion subsystems. Used ERwin CASE tool to develop and maintain the data model consisting of 125 tables (2300 columns) representing daily snapshots and summaries of customer and employee banking and brokerage accounts and associated trade and transaction activity. Formulated and implemented highly complex algorithms for calculating derived data elements. Used Uniform Modeling Language (UML) and Rational Rose to create an object model of a brokerage customer order life cycle.

INMS system - Developed the Integrated Network Management System (INMS) data model for Sprint International using the IE*Advantage CASE tool. The model included 200 tables and 100 views representing the inventory, status, and fault history of major Sprint International network components, including routers, modems, switches and circuits. Mapped data elements from five legacy systems to the INMS model

DoD systems - Developed or participated in the development of the following DoD data models: Reserve Component Automation System (RCAS); Individual Manpower Requirements and Availability System (IMRAS); Medical Planning and Execution System (MEPES). Used Oracle CASE and IE:Advantage CASE tools. Created DoD Data Standardization submission packages for MEPES as a component of the Joint Planning and Execution System (JOPES). Mapped data elements from six legacy systems into the MEPES data model

Participated in user workshops to develop data and process models for various customers.

Database Design/Implementation/Administration

Mantas BrFAML product - Designed, implemented and administered a 100 gigabyte Oracle 8i development database environment. Loaded and migrated data between 2 development databases and a test database. Allocated disk resources and created partitioning and indexing schemes to optimize performance and facilitate ease of data maintenance. Managed all logical and physical objects in the database.

INMS system - Designed, implemented and administered several Oracle 7 databases. Optimized performance by denormalizing the logical model, selecting appropriate indexes, creating artificial keys, and distributing data and index tablespaces across physical disk drives. Managed all logical and physical objects in the database.

Programming

Mantas BrFAML and BIP products - Team lead for developing and maintaining the BrFAML and BIP data ingestion subsystems. Used the Informatica PowerMart ETL tool (versions 5.1 and 6.2) to develop data load mappings and to create sessions for populating the database and calculating derived data elements during a nightly batch cycle

HCFA BISK proposal - designed and developed PL/SQL stored database procedures to generate Medicare provider profiles. Medicare claims were subsequently mined with these profiles in order to detect patterns of fraud among Medicare providers

ADS system - created various GUI components and reports using Java for the Advanced Detection System (ADS), a system developed for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) to detect insider trading and various other patterns of broker-dealer trading fraud

ADS system - created a PL/SQL package to that calculates for each security the aggregate quantity of all Nasdaq stock market shares available for purchase or sale at inside market prices throughout each trading day

ADS system - designed and developed a PL/SQL data preparation and load module for Nasdaq stock market trade, quote, and best-bid-and-offer (BBO) data

INMS system - wrote and maintained numerous PL/SQL packages, procedures and triggers to facilitate the load and maintenance of network configuration data from network element managers (NEMs)

INMS system - wrote and maintained PL/SQL procedures and triggers for numerous GUI forms comprising the fault management and configuration management subsystems

Graphical User Interface Design/Implementation

ADS system - designed, developed, and tested various GUI components using Java

INMS system - developed specifications for the creation of 35 forms for the configuration management subsystem using Oracle Forms 4.0

INMS system - created forms that guide the user through the work-flow process of extracting configuration data from NEMs and loading the data into processing tables

Supervision/Management

Mantas Orion product - Supervised 6 developers and testers in the development of the data ingestion subsystem.

Mantas BrFAML and BIP products - Team lead for developing and maintaining the data ingestion subsystems.

INMS system - Supervised and coordinated the activities of five individuals, including four Oracle Forms developers and a C/UNIX programmer, during implementation of the configuration management subsystem

Air Liaison Officer, US Air Force (USAF) - Advised an Army Brigade commander on the availability and utilization of USAF and allied air power; supervised eight enlisted personnel

Wing Assistant Chief of Standardization and Evaluation, USAF - Administered flight, simulator, and written evaluations to aircrews; administered the quarterly Wing Standardization and Evaluation review board; conducted critical briefings to senior commanders
