EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION SUMMARY

Learning is a life-long pursuit. Whether it comes from formal means or is gained through experiential methods, the result is the same. With respect to experience in the Counseling milieu, I have been involved since 1972. I was one of a handful from the Methodist Churches in the area which began The Bristol Crisis Center. At the age of 16, I was the Telephone Crisis Intervention Coordinator. After enrolling in Emory & Henry College in the Fall of 1974, I became the only underclassman to be elevated to the position of Resident Advisor. I counseled many of my fellow dormitory friends in this capacity. With every subsequent career choice, I found counseling to be the integral component Of which I excelled. I am by my very nature an -Autodidact-. I teach myself whenever necessary. Fearing nothing, I love to learn by doing. These tasks include: cooking, meat cutting, hair cutting, professional photography, architectural design, holistic medicine, and teaching. Due to space limitations, many of my life`s pursuits have been omitted. Specifically not listed is a Consulting and Certified Public Accounting firm owned and run by myself and my ex-spouse for over twenty-five years. I have also been very dedicated to the community. I have been involved in many such positions over the years, including President of The Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce, Backbone Club. Community development has been a passion, to this end, I have served on many boards, designed and run many festivals, and have coached many youth sports teams. As an avocation, for over 30 years I was a singer in choruses, quartets and solo work.
