All Saints Chapel, University of the South, Seminarian Intern, Sewanee, TN 2010-2011

Preached, assisted with liturgy, including several weddings and funerals and the large, festive liturgies for

which All Saints is famous: Lessons & Carols and the Great Vigil of Easter; participated in the

Catechumanate program, which is the major program of the Chapel for students, faculty, seminarians, and

community members, and continued as a Catechist my Senior year, leading a small group in intimate

conversation about life, faith, and making meaning of our contexts

Erlanger Health Systems, Chaplain, Chattanooga, TN, Summer 2010

Provided pastoral care and support to patients, their families and hospital staff during Clinical Pastoral

Education; served as chaplain for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, High-Risk Pregnancy Unit, Obstetric and

Gynecological Floor; served 24-hour on-call rotations including Level I trauma; quickly established

connection with people in pain, grief or crisis

Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee:

Committee Member Diocesan Leadership Conference Planning Committee, 2004-2006, designed and

otherwise planned annual Leadership Conference, led small group discussion, convened representatives of

the Program-sized parishes for follow up meetings to equip and inspire diocesan leaders for growth and

mission.

Committee Member Diocesan Youth Commission, 2004-2007, oversight of expenditures from the Diocesan

Budget related to Youth Ministry, planned and implemented events and retreats for Youth and Youth

Ministers, developed Vision and Mission statements for the DYC, designed Diocesan Manual for the Hiring

of a Youth Minister and Youth Ministry Quick-Start Guide for parishes, prepared and presented DYC

reports to Diocesan Convention

Chair, Committee to Hire a Diocesan Youth Coordinator, 2006-2007, provided oversight of application and

Volunteer Lay Youth Minister, 2003-2007, worked with youth in the church on a weekly basis, led weekly

Bible Study for Middle School and High School girls, helped supervise service mission trips with youth and

young adults, planned and implemented retreat for the Middle School and High School girls, especially

effective at connecting with the kids who were on the fringes of the youth community

Campus Minister, 2006-2008, set goals and designed ministry program for college students and young adults,

coordinated weekly meals for the ministry, created safe space for students to explore their faith questions

Co-mentor Education for Ministry group, 2006-2009, attended three required training sessions at Sewanee:

The University of the South, School of Theology and obtained certification to be an EfM mentor, facilitated

weekly seminar meetings, led Theological reflections on a regular basis, designed Common Lessons relating

to the common life of the seminar group, guided group discussions in accordance with group norms toward a

common goal of discerning individual ministry opportunities and supporting the exploration and practice of

those ministries

Eucharistic Visitor, 2007-2009, provided Service of Holy Communion to home-bound or hospitalized

parishioners, in effect bringing the Church into the home or hospital to enfold the constrained member into

the ongoing life and support of the community

Chair, Outreach Committee, 2008-2009, re-formed Outreach Committee, completed assessment of current

outreach activity, as well as the dreams for future outreach activity; created a structure of accountability and

resourcing that developed or enhanced ministry teams to address specific areas of outreach, assisted

parishioners in recognizing where their dreams for outreach ministry were either already in place or were

easily attainable; the committee and structure are still thriving, resulting in increasing, tangible, and viable

ministries in many different sections of the community
