Full-service acute care critical access hospital with 24 licensed beds and Level-IV Trauma Center; Total service area in excess of 20,000 people; Responsible for all administrative, quality, and clinical aspects of Inpatient, Emergency and Outpatient imaging services; Supervision of staff of 12 Technologists and Support personnel; Additional daily responsibilities include patient, employee, and physician rounding and performing imaging studies.

Developed technical skills to include Special Procedures, CT, US, Mammography and MRI.; Expanded departmental role to quality control technologist, radiology supervisor, and ultimately Radiology Director in 1990.

Experienced first manager role with Joint Commission two months after being designated Radiology Manager; Direct involvement with surveyors.
Information Systems Experience:
1983 - Implemented HCA Distributed Radiology Information Systems (RIS). This was an early RIS system using an NCR tower platform.
1993 - Implemented HCA system at Navarro Regional Hospital.
1995 - Worked as leader of the Columbia North Texas Division radiology directors in the build and implementation of the Meditech computer systems. Worked with Order Entry, Radiology, Scheduling, Structured Reporting and Legacy Archive modules within this system. Served on the Radiology User Review Group for 5 years which served as the gatekeeper for enhancements to this software package. Served as a designated super user assisting with implementation and maintenance at a number of facilities other than my own. I utilized this product from 1995-2005.
Implemented GE EchoPACS in 2003.
Served on the Radiology Advisory Board for the Healthtrust Purchasing Group from 1999-2003. In addition to reviewing capital equipment contracting for HPG, we also evaluated RIS and PACS systems to support the awarding of purchase agreements.
From 2000 to 2005 I served on corporate teams assigned with the responsibility of selecting PACS and Information Systems for system-wide replacement. I had the somewhat unique opportunity of seeing all systems side-by-side during the selection process while learning their strengths and weaknesses.
Was introduced to and utilized the Keane RIS system beginning in 2005. This ran on an AS400 platform.
2007 - Implemented McKesson`s Horizon Medical Imaging PACS system. This was followed very quickly with implementation of the McKesson Paragon RIS system and Resource Scheduling system as part of the hospital-wide implementation of the Paragon products. Over the next 3 years, we also implemented Cardiology PACS and information system.
