continuing my professional development by pursuing my Institute for Organizational Management (IOM) certification
through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Annapolis, Maryland January 2007 to present
Vice President, Membership
Manage member services including new business development and retention, sales, event planning and implementation,
and customer service. Work with Business Development Council to manage small business services and programs.
Achievements
Directly manage two (2) staff members.
Work closely with C-Level executives of Global 100, Fortune 1000 and small to mid size firms across health care,
manufacturing, banking and finance, non-profit, and professional services industries.
Supports the Chamber s advocacy efforts by educating top executives on legislative issues and how to be connected
and engage.
Work closely with the Chamber s sixty-five (65) member Board of Directors to achieve its strategic plan.
Met or exceeded all budgeted goals for events, retention, and new business development.
Personally recruited an organization record 37 new members during one fiscal year.
Maintain an 86% annual retention rate; 90% retention of dues value.
Conduct quarterly orientation programs for new members.
Direct leadership to Membership Committee of 25 volunteers that support organizational goals.
Manage and provide leadership to 75 member Business Development Council to expand programming and resources
to small and mid-sized businesses.
Created BDC on the Road to better connect small and mid-size members to larger employers.
With Board of Directors and Committees, created and implemented new strategic plan initiatives to grow the
Chamber.
Facilitated local chamber Board Retreat to implement a new strategic plan.
Created Speed Dating Lending Fair procedures that gave Chamber great publicity and created new partnerships.
Recruit, train and mentor new committee members to better serve the Chamber s mission and goals.
Maintain a book of business with over 1000 contacts.
Maryland Senate August 2006 to November 2006
Campaign Manager
Managed the day to day operations of the Maryland Senate campaign. Duties included: communication, event scheduling,
fund raising, volunteer management and recruitment, and publicity.
Achievements
Won Primary election with nearly 87% of the vote.
Raised over $60,000 in three months through cold calls, referrals, and events.
Increased volunteer participation in campaign activities over 30%.
Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland August 2005 to March 2006
Director of Annual Giving
Directed and managed total operations of the Annual Giving campaign.
Achievements
Recruited and trained volunteers in promotional and support resources which increased fund raising.
Matching Gift donations exceeded previous year within first 6 months.
Direct Mailing yielded 200% increase over previous year.
Staff Campaign exceeded previous year s total.
Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, Baltimore, Maryland June 2000 to August 2005
District Director
Coordinated and managed all operations of the Scouting Program including: fundraising, recruitment, training, and
programming. Worked closely with the Board of Directors, local District Committee and other volunteers to achieve the
organization s mission and goals.
Achievements
Directly managed one (1) employee and supervised three (3) others.
Promoted twice for performance to larger districts with greater responsibility.
Developed, marketed, and delivered a new annual Endowment Cultivation Reception.
Served Scouting in Anne Arundel, Carroll and Baltimore Counties.
Recruited, trained and provided leadership to 75 member District Board, overseeing all Scouting operations.
Met or exceeded all annual fundraising goals with a minimum 10% increase annually.
Planned, organized and delivered at least one special event per year.
Recognized to serve two years as Camp Director for one of three of the Boy Scout Summer Camps. Additional
responsibilities and staff assignments including:
o Managed the day to day operations of the Summer Camp program including a $250,000 budget.
o Hired, trained and managed a 50 member Summer Camp Staff of 14-60 year olds which served over 4,000
campers each season.
o Maintained over 70% of my staff from one year to the next.
o Achieved record attendance for total number of campers, number of units, and average attendance per week.
o Served an average of 325 campers and 10 units per week.
Responsible for budget management, cash flow and purchasing for all District events and activities. Maintained at
least an 18% return on each event.
Created awareness of Scouting by participating in many civic, community and government related organizations and
events, building relationships and recognition of Scouting in the community.
Consistently achieved National recognition as a top performing executive (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004).
