For the American Stock Exchange, worked closely with the heads of Marketing,
Corporate Finance, and Rules and Regulations departments. In addition, worked
closely with the CIO and provided evaluations and cost comparisons of
hardware,market data providers, data transformation tools, OLAP and reporting
products,and various development tools. Also managed and represented the AmEx
in all vendor contract negotiations. Involved in the following projects:
* Marketing data warehouse. The data warehouse provided the client with
strategic information on the comparative quality of its competitors' (NASDAQ,
NYSE, Regionals) market metrics and enabled analysts to prospect for new
listings using this information. The planned next release provided for a
comprehensive online repository of financial data on all categories of listing
prospects and the analytical means to measure and optimize prospect selection.
* Listing Workflow. Responsible for scoping, architecting and planning a major
new workflow system for taking a company from marketing prospect to new
listing. Interacted with the COO and interviewed all heads of departments
involved in the listing process. The design permitted the rapid development of
core functionality supporting the listing process and a component-based
architecture to implement the wider functionality planned for later phases.
Awarded Oracle Financial Services consultant of the year award for the Capital
Markets Practice for the proposal and the design.
* For Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt, Germany, was a key team member on a global
risk management strategy and analysis project. As part of the strategy phase
of the project, worked closely with bank risk managers, trading department
heads,and analysts to determine high level business and technology
requirements
forintegrating well known third party risk management software into the bank's
existing front and back office systems. Responsible for analyzing existing
bank systems and infrastructure and adapting a complex model of security types
to requirements for specific data and pricing models used by the risk
management software selected for the project by the bank. In addition, worked
closely with bank analysts and trading support personnel to review and analyze
the P&L reporting processes and practices implemented by various trading
desks.
This information served as the foundation for developing a consolidated data
warehouse for position and trade capture. The warehouse enabled the bank to
fulfill German regulatory requirements for daily reconciliation between front
and back office P&L and mark-to-market procedure.
* For Chemical Bank's Treasury division, designed and developed the first
phase of an historical pricing and indicatives data warehouse which supported
pricing analysis for fixed income securities' trading and market risk
functions.
The architecture and database design were conceived to support the sourcing
and
comparison of pricing and indicative information from multiple market data
providers. The architecture permitted the analysts and the trading desk heads
to select the data of the vendor with whom they were most familiar or to use
the data from the vendor considered most reliable in a particular market or
security type.
