My wife Pam and I along with our daughter Jen started a seasonal Halloween & Christmas business.

I was responsible for the day to day operation from hiring, ordering the product, going to the trade shows, shipping and receiving of the product, accounts payable and receivable, the leasing of the store, getting it ready for inspection, building and merchandising the store, installing the video surveillance and alarm system, and installing the signs.

I sold the business to our daughter this past November.

January 1991 to July 1997

I operated a construction company with a crew of five men.

We did renovations of kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, roofs, offices, and additions.

I did a complete remodel of the offices at Custom Video Access Systems in Rockaway, NJ and made the security consoles for Bear Stern's in NY City and Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

In Dec 2011 I installed a video surveillance system on two buildings for Riverside Properties in Whitehall, Pa.

At the end of 94 business got slow, I laid off 4 of my crew and tried to keep it going with a two man crew, and when the winter of 95 came the business came to a halt in the Poconos.

So I closed the shop and went back into retail.

I started this business with my wife Pam and together with our saving of $25K we went over $225K in sales in 1989.

I was responsible for the day to day operation of the business.

We had a lottery machine and sold cigarettes, I did home expos and had Edison Parking Newark, NJ and Sussex County Voe-tech Sussex, NJ as my largest accounts.

The store was open seven days a week and it began to take a toll on my wife and our kids, not spending time with them.

So after some long sole searching I sold the business in 1991.

I got this job through my high school work program.

I would go to school in the morning and go to work in the afternoon.

I read blueprints, cut the material, assembled the kitchen and bathroom cabinets along with the counter tops and rec room and theater room cabinets.

I worked with plastic laminates, MDF, hardwoods and flooring.

After eight years I left there and started my own business.
