Work History

1982

-1989Hughes Helicopter/McDonnell-Douglas Helicopter Company

Mesa, Arizona

Quality Software Analyst, Quality Systems Auditor.

Major responsibilities, Quality Software Analyst, conduct independent reviews

and evaluations of company and supplier software and software documentation

to ensure deliverable software item's conformation to performance, reliability

and contractual requirements.

EVIDENCE: During start-up of the Apache AH-64 program, I wrote

procedures for and organized the software systems library, performed software

document reviews to the procurement specifications, witnessed Erasable

Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) burn-in testing at vendor

facilities. Wrote reports and conferred with technical staff

verifying testing results.

Major responsibilities, Quality Systems Auditor, Audit manufacturing

operations and supplier operations to ensure that manufacturing processes,

procedures and specifications are existent, adequate, and accurate for

performance of work to contractual requirements.

EVIDENCE: Developed the supplier audit and certification program to comply

with MIL-Q-9858A and MIL-I-45208. Wrote procedures, developed checklists,

visited supplier facilities, performed audits, wrote final reports, made formal

presentations where necessary, and trained newly hired audit team members.

Additional responsibilities, Investigate systemic problems in major processes,

methods and inspection and testing equipment. Develop and implement

solutions for problems of unusual complexity. Selected by management to

perform investigations and audits sensitive in nature to the well being of the

AH-64 Apache project.

EVIDENCE: Performed major in-house program audits

in addition to supplier audits that were critical or sensitive in nature. Examples

of this type of program include the company blueprint control system, ordnance

programs and critical parts program. It was my responsibility to successfully

prepare and perform these types of audits with as little operational impact as

possible. Typically, these types of audits were accomplished and the final report

containing recommendations for corrective action was presented at the

Executive Vice President level.

Work History

1970

-1982U.S.A.F

. Computer Operations manager at several United States Air Force

bases in various parts of the world.

RESPONSIBLE for the efficient operation and optimal performance of

computer systems within the U.S.A.F. inventory. Supervised and trained three

shifts of operations personnel, was responsible for acceptance testing and

computer performance evaluation of multiple U.S.A.F. Strategic Air Command

(SAC) World Wide Military Command and Control Systems (WWMCCS).

EVIDENCE: With respect to the acceptance testing and computer performance

evaluation, this was a project undertaken to explore the possibilities of

improving computer mainframe performance during system configuration

changes and during initial acceptance testing. The project involved three large-

scale Honeywell computer systems operating in batch and on line

environments. The systems were monitored by a passive Micro-Sum hardware

monitor and accompanying software for data reduction provided by the Tesdata

Corporation. Basically the monitor is attached to designated system test points

(i.e. CPU active,) via a series of cables and special passive sensors to obtain

measurements of system activity that is collected and written to a storage

device, later retrieved and reduced by software into meaningful graphic

representations.

This technique and an additional method, using a memory resident program

(which had a adverse impact on system overhead) provided valuable

information about CPU utilization, memory contention, I/O channel activity,

and numerous job stream conditions that could be modified to make a

remarkable difference on system utilization and performance. Most methods to

improve total system operations could be accomplished by simple system

configuration (i.e. channel prioritization) or job stream changes that better

utilized system resources.

The performance evaluation project was my responsibility. During the project I

conferred with personnel at Rand Corporation and MITRE Corporation who

were also conducting preliminary computer performance evaluations and

analysis during the same time frame. The results of my project were rewarding

and demonstrated that significant computer performance enhancements and

fine tuning could be obtained with a minimum of cost and effort.
