EMPLOYMENT:
1997
to Present: I have mostly been attending school and serving as an At-Home Dad.
I worked for two semesters as a paid staff writer/reporter on the Texas Woman s University school newspaper, The LASSO.
Worked as a volunteer for Denton Family Resource Center and worked as a student assistant for two months in the Center for Public Service at UNT.
1994
1996: Marriott International Food Service at Texas Woman s University in Denton. Cook responsible for feeding 300-700 students on my shift. Served as both a Cold-Food Chef and Hot-Food Chef. Extensive banquet and catering duties including weddings, setting up decorative displays.
1989
1993: Kettle Restaurants Inc. Unit #33 in Fort Worth, Texas. Kitchen Manager of this franchise unit. Responsible for all order/inventory. Hiring, firing and training of cooks. In charge of kitchen personnel, food production, waste and portion control, following company guidelines, health and fire department rules and regulations, as well as other government and company rules and regulations as they pertained to running a restaurant, including ADA and OSHA. This was a 24/7 operation.
1987
1988: Employed as a Buffet Cook at the Hyatt Regency in Fort Worth, for six months.Kitchen Manager at Courtyard Burgers on Main Street in Fort Worth, for about a year before the owner ("Blackie" Brachard) closed for health reasons. Line Cook at The Ol South Pancake House few a few months.
1983
1986: Kettle Restaurants Inc. Unit #533 A 24/7 company store in Shreveport, Louisiana. After three-months as manager-trainee I served as the Manager for two-years. Responsible for everything that involved running a 24-hour restaurant with 25 plus employees. The first year store revenue increased 25% and the employee turnover rate was lowered under my leadership. The second year sales increased 10% despite a local factory shutdown and opening more competition in the neighborhood. While I was manager, the store was listed in the Top 10 (of over 100 stores) over 75% of the months reported.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE:
In 1999, I volunteered 180 hours to design and build a Website for the Denton Family Resource Center in Denton, Texas. They used my design for nearly two years until another On-line volunteer became available. I learned how to use FrontPage and FTP doing this. I also learned a lot about volunteer boards and dealing with the process of building consensus to serve the organizational needs. Since August 2000, I have developed and maintained my wife s school class Web site at http://skcomeau.crosswinds.net, as Web master comeauzone. The site serves a self-contained special education class at Clear Creek Intermediate School in the Sanger Independent School District Region XI in Sanger, Texas. It is the first teacher web site hosted through the District. This experience has challenged me to learn to create an interoperable Web page accessible to all, and integrate technology standards to the special education students and teachers. I have also served as a PTA volunteer and had fun as a Cub-Scout dad.

NOTES:One special area that interests me involves adaptability and accessibility issues in Internet web site design and computer use. My wife is a Special Education Teacher serving a multi-level group of students. We run a web site she uses in her class. She has challenged me to make it accessible to all her students, some of whom cannot read, some cannot type. Adaptations make a world of difference in the experience of these children. I have learned that other groups can be served as well. I do not claim expertise in this area, but I have learned how important it is to enhance life and give hope. Many experiments were lost when our web site server lost our files due to the World Trade Center disaster; our work is being restored, (http://skcomeau.crosswinds.net) as time permits. I am especially interested in working with senior volunteer organizations and advocacy in the areas involving accessibility (in technology and in public policy areas) and sustainable community building. I have a personal need to go out and help organizations serve seniors in effective ways that include coalition building and prioritizing meaningful strategic goals. I am working on my application to the University of North Texas Department of Applied Gerontology graduate program leading to a Master of Science degree with a major in administration of aging organizations.
