President of the

Westmoreland Bar Association, Reg Beldin, appointed me to chair a committee to

look into the formation of a lawyer’s abstract company that would benefit the

attorneys in Westmoreland County. Within

a year, Lawyers Abstract Company of Westmoreland County was formed. The abstract company has been a successful

business venture; proceeds from the company have benefited the Bar Association,

the Bar Foundation and more than half of the practicing attorneys in the

County.

I was one of four

individuals who formed ROAM Investments, Inc. in 1999. In the eleven years of ROAM’s existence, ROAM

has purchased five commercial buildings in Pittsburgh, 3 commercial condos in

the Oakland section of Pittsburgh and one commercial building in

Greensburg. ROAM has a number of

holdings that have been obtained through limited partnerships with private

equity investment capital.

Bally Design, Inc was a tenant in one of

ROAM’s buildings, had trouble paying rent and was facing bankruptcy. ROAM, together with investors, bought Bally

Design and within a year had it turning a profit. Today Bally Design is a successfully run

company with clients such as MSA, Respironics, Lincoln Electric and OXO.
