Led a Startup technical team in developing and launching a website for a
Startup in the reverse auction space. We successfully completed and launched a
complex website at eSpeed. The whole project was completed in a 90-day phase.
I also managed the client relationship from SeraNova side.
Program Manager
Practice Innovation and Enablement (PI&E), December 1997September
1999.
I led a large effort in defining and running the eCommerce Village at a
worldwide meet of Andersen Consultings key leadership (4000 attendees) with
the theme Lead the eFuture. The effort involved defining the theme,
attracting proposals for the Village, filtering proposals based on technical
eCommerce content similar to organizing a technical conference. This Village
was first of its kind within the Firm and was influential in accelerating the
take-up of eCommerce and stimulating selling eCommerce engagements within
Andersen Consulting.
I assisted and/or led several initiatives at the Program/Project
management level in PI&E. These included communicating vision and goals,
defining quality and metrics, budget processes, work plans, annual priority
setting process. Many of these initiatives helped the new PI&E group reach a
steady state and created an infrastructure to enable growth in the desired
direction.
Knowledge Management: Project Management and Processes, April 1997 November
1997.
I led a project to define KM processes in the Business Integration (BI)
Methodology Program. A major missing piece in the methodology, namely KM, was
identified; best practices were obtained from various sources, integrated,
completed, tested and rolled out. As a result, we had a new and more
significantly enhanced version of BI Methodology. BI Methodology is used in
virtually every engagement within Andersen Consulting.
eCommerce & Knowledge Management,
October 1996
- March 1997
I led the Prospector project. Prospector explored innovative applications of
personalization technologies (Firefly and Netperceptions) to knowledge
management including handling information overload (email and knowledge
sources) and multiple sources of knowledge. In Andersen Consulting, a knowledge
base of engagements is available on Lotus Notes. Prospector project included an
extensive requirements analysis on information and knowledge management within
Andersen Consulting.
Prospector was successful in influencing the direction of the internal
Knowledge Management system; e.g., profiling and personalizing content delivery
via Lotus Notes.
Computer Assisted Support for Collaborative Development,
January 1995
- October
1996
.
I was the Project Manager and Principal Investigator
of the Computer Assisted
Support for CollAborative DEvelopment (Cascade) project whose mission is to
research collaborative Internet technologies that support business integration
teams that are geographically dispersed. I led the complete lifecycle of this
project including requirements analysis, proposal, development & testing,
budget and resources. This system was tested live between Sophia Antipolis in
France, Chicago and Manila in the Philippines.
Technologies used/developed/integrated include workflow management, context-
rich folders, application sharing, electronic yellow pages and discussions,
HTML, C++, TCP/IP, Netware/NT networks.
The system and the report became a part of the internal Knowledge Management
system and have been widely accessed and used in many projects involving
dispersed teams across Andersen Consulting.
Other Software Development Experience: Graph Layout and Graphical User
Interface Design, January 1991December 1994.
I defined, designed, and implemented a prototype for automated and interactive
graph layout. I optimized the performance iteratively yielding an order of
magnitude performance improvement. I supervised and directed members of the
research team to transfer this technology from prototype to a product-level
implementation in C++. The resulting system provides support for incremental
and static aesthetic layout of graphs, trees, and hierarchical diagrams. This
is the best graph layout package developed (better than any in the marketplace
in 1994).
