Through-out 2012 I had been noticing some behavior diffirences in my Mother in-law, Donna Sandoval (70 year old). Significant enough that I took notes. On Aug. 19, 2012 Donna drove to my home. I immediatly noticed EXTREME abnormal confusion and strange behavior. My husband and I took Donna to the E.R. Valley View Hospital in Ft. Mohave AZ. After giving a noted by date run-down of Donna's recent behavior, and sudden onset changes with-in the previous 2 months. A CT of her head was preformed and showed a rather large mass in her right front lobe. Immediatly we were in route to Las Vegas NV, Sunrise Medical Hospital. On Aug. 22, 2012 Donna had surgery to remove as much as possible of a 7 cm. Glioblastoma multiforme (brain tumor) stage 4, grade IV. The most agressive cancerous brain tumor, and most resistant to current treatments. Donna was discharged, and able to go home on Aug. 26, 2012. Due to this unfortunate illness Donna cannot care for herself. I have been attached to her hip as they say from day one. I have educated myself as quickly and throughly as a person possibly could under these circumstances, with many thanks to Christy Koperek R.N. (sister in-law) and the internet. After returning home we began the recovery process. Donna was taking 11 pills in the AM, and 14 in the PM. Donna was sleeping so deeply at night that she was wetting the bed, and was unable to be woke. So I Elizabeth, began researching her medications through WEBMD, because something didn't seem right. The pill interactions I discovered made me very furious. There were 5 SERIOUS pill interactions. It took me all night, but I memorized everything about her medications. The next morning I took my findings (on paper), and my questions to Donna's primary doctor and demanded answers. These medications that were interacting he was unaware of and very grateful that I had looked into it. He said "Elizabeth you very well may have saved her life" Donna has not slept that deep or wet the bed since. Donna has 5 doctors on her team fighting this battle, 6 including me (and I am the most important one). I then showed my findings (on paper)to each of her other doctors. i expressed that in my opinion some their communication skills with eachother need to improve. One Doctor (the prescribing Dr. of the interacting meds) would not speak with me. So Donna's Daughter Christy Koperek R.N. (who has complete power of attorney of Donna) and Donna gave me medical power of attorney in writing and notarized. Legal as legal could be. So I took that document to each Doctor and assured them that my status in this family, and expecially in Donna's situation is solid, and legal. Since then, I have been treated with respect, and also been told by every Doctor that Donna is lucky for a relative, daughter, and friend like me. There are people fighting this disease alone, without a "Elizabeth" in their life.

Education and Training
1997 Artesia High School Lakewood, Ca
High School Diploma Basic Education
Hands on experience with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Before and after surgery and treatment. Complete caregiver, dedicated companion, well focused, very observant and sensitive to any abnormalities. Due to my dedication and punctuality through this with my Mother in-law, I am well respected and admired by the Doctors I work with. I am like every human, I shine when I'm needed. Caring for people, animals, plants, my house, pretty much anything is what I love to do. That's why I'm a Mom. I'm not a bit shy to ask questions when/if I don't fully understand something. I've come to realize that Doctors wear a coat, caregivers need to wear the cape (superhero).
