All word was done over the internet from Michigan.

September 2006 to July 2010 - Power Engineers Collaborative LLC, Chicago, IL (consultant, frequently part-time. The last three years have been usually over the internet.) Mechanical design responsibility for power plant, building system and sewage treatment projects. Designed, analyzed and specified piping, pipe supports, pressure vessels, pumps, heat exchangers and other equipment. Analyzed equipment stress, pipe stress, fluid flow and fluid distribution problems using ALGOR, CAESAR II, AFT Impulse and other computer programs. Major projects included: 1. A chilled water system plant upgrade for plant 5 of the Thermal Chicago network, including four new compressors, pump upgrading, and piping modifications. 2. A piping review in a steam plant modification study for the AON building, Chicago. 3. A turbine replacement program for Geneva Energy for their Ford Heights, IL waste tire burning power plant. Extensive modifications of the steam supply piping, cooling water piping, and fuel and exhaust system components were required. 4. Assisted Independent Mechanical Industries (IMI) in rehabilitating the Kirie Water Reclamation Facility influent pumping station for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC). Installed six new pumps and revised all piping to correct serious design flaws in the original system. Performed thermal analysis and water hammer analysis to finalize new design. 5. Assisted IMI in a hydraulic improvement study for MWRDGC at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant. Sludge systems, steam systems, fuel and exhaust systems were modified. Performed extensive thermal stress analysis using CAESAR II and designed pipe supports. October 2005 to August 2006: RWCooper & Associates, Chicago, IL (contract) Mechanical Engineer in the Piping Design Group. Caesar II pipe stress analysis and pipe support design and location for hot asphalt piping systems. The clients were GAF and CertainTeed, with installations in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Heat exchanger design and heat transfer analysis on hot asphalt storage and handling facilities. Equipment selection and hydraulic analysis of heating oil and asphalt systems. June 2005 to October 2005: Fluor Corporation, on site at the Pine Bend Refinery, St Paul, MN (contract) Stress Analyst in the Piping Group. Caesar II analysis of refinery modifications and upgrades. Trouble-shooting existing hardware for modified service and recommending design changes. .November 2004 to June 2005: Matrix Engineering, a division of CB&I, Beaumont, Texas. (contract) Stress analyst in the Pipe Stress Group. Caesar II and finite element analysis of piping installations and vessel and pump nozzle stresses on several refinery modifications in Port Arthur, Texas and New Orleans, LA. Support design and location. June 2003 to September 2004 - Superior Engineering LLC, Hammond, IN (contract) Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Mechanical Group. Pipe stress analysis using Caesar II for plant modifications at the Whiting Refinery (British Petroleum), Whiting, IN. Pipe stress analysis and equipment selection on a steam distribution system for Purdue University, Lafayette, IN. Bearing failure analysis and equipment modifications for the No. 3 Cold Strip Mill, Ispat-Inland Steel, Hammond, IN.
