Experience

EDS

Systems Programmer, 08/1995 to 10/2001

I was responsible for providing technical support in the network area. Initially

working for the Columbus, Indiana data center, I was sole support for a major

client handling VTAM, NCP gens, TCP/IP, Netmaster, Netmail, and disaster

recovery tests. This site was merged with the Auburn Hills, Michigan data

center and I continued supporting this client and additionally was leveraged to

support other systems. My responsibilities included installation and upgrades

of software, problem resolution and on call rotation. In January of 2000, I

was

shifted to the Plano, TX data center, where I became responsible for the

installation, maintenance and upgrade of 40+ 37x5's. Additional duties involved

operating system upgrades, disaster recovery testing, migrating new clients to

the data center, on call rotation and problem resolution.

Consultant

Systems Programmer, 10/91 to 08/1995

Assigned to Bell Atlantic to provide support for the SNA network and to assist

with the migration of the Princeton data center.

My primary responsibility was to provide technical support in the VTAM/NCP area

for Bell's clients. I interfaced with the clients on a regular basis to resolve

network related problems, modify software for the installation of new

equipment, and schedule time for testing/implementation of new software

releases.

In addition, I have installed new releases of VTAM, NCP/SSP/EP, VPS, RDS and

have performed follow-up maintenance and tuning. I have worked closely with the

help desk and network hardware personnel in diagnosing and resolving network

problems, utilizing GTF traces, NCP and VTAM dumps.

Computer Associates

Systems Programmer, 2/1990 to 10/1991

Responsible for maintaining the Princeton data center network and providing 2nd

level support to the hardware, help desk and development personnel. Diagnosing

and troubleshooting network problems was a priority. The tools I used in

debugging problems were NLDM, GTF traces and NCP, VTAM dumps.

I created TPNS gens for the software development group allowing them to test the

functionality of their new software. I provided on-site support until testing

was complete.

After merging the Princeton data center with the main data center, I assumed a

supervisory position. I was responsible for a staff of 4 which included

operators, network analyst and a mail administrator. The remaining network

consisted of a 4381 and two 3725's which I maintained. An AS/400 was installed

for which I provided connectivity to the IBM mainframe through the 3725 and the

installation of HSC.

I provided remote support for other data centers by assisting with problem

resolutions. This involved working with outside vendors and providing the

necessary documents to troubleshoot a problem. These included traces and dumps

for an AS/400 and Compuserv connection.

AON Corporation

Systems Programmer, 8/1985 to 2/1990

Responsible for the installation, implementation, maintenance and tuning of all

network products. These included VTAM, NCP, NPM, NetView, VPS and SIM3278/VTAM.

I received the majority of my training at AON when I transferred into the

network software area. I utilized SMP/E for the installation of all IBM

products and used tools such as GTF and NLDM traces for problem determination.

I was actively involved with the install of the 3745. I worked with both the

hardware personnel and IBM with the initial configuration and performed the

necessary migration changes for the NCP gen.

In conjunction with the operations and production control staffs, I setup and

tested numerous NetView CLIST to automate many of the routine operator tasks,

i.e startup/shut down of applications, notification messages for specific

messages.

Senior Programmer Analyst, 1973 - 1985

Responsibilities included maintaining charge back, installment loan, payroll and

personnel systems. Duties included modifying programs and production JCL and

debugging production problems.

Responsible for analyzing and reviewing job requirements, designing system flows

and documentation, and programming in COBOL and Easytrieve using TOTAL and DL/1

databases and VSAM files. I also performed maintenance of IMS databases.

Daily activities involved interfacing with user departments to review job

specifications, system proposals and problem resolutions.
