City of University City University City, Missouri

Front Desk Associate

I've held many positions with the City of University over a span of two and a half years. I started as a life guard, I did that for two summers, and I taught swim lessons as well. After two summers as a guard I began working at the pool's front desk. This position required me to: check patrons in and out, handle cash, assist when emergencies occurred, and to make sure the safety rules were being followed by swimmers at all times. After my second summer at the pool's front desk I moved over to the recreational side and started in the child care room as a Child Care Attendant. My responsibilities were to watch and interact with the children while their parents or guardian was using the facility. From a Child Care Attendant I moved up to the Building Monitor position. As a Building Monitor my responsibilities were to monitor the gym, as well as the rest of the building, to enforce the rules in place to keep the patrons safe. My next position held was as a Fitness Attendant. As a Fitness Attendant my responsibilities were to monitor the equipment areas to ensure proper use of the equipment and to show the patrons how to properly use the equipment if they didn't know how. I also was required to keep the equipment clean and report equipment that was not working properly to the fitness manager. My last position held was as a Front Desk Associate. My responsibilities as a Front Desk Associate were to: assist the patrons with memberships, answer the phones, transfer calls, file papers, answer questions, sign people in, and monitoring the building to make sure it was safe and the patrons were happy. About six months prior to leaving this job I was given a key and the responsibility of opening and closing the facility at the beginning/end of the day. Opening the facility required me to unlock the facility doors and turn off the alarm, count money and to delegate responsibilities to the other staff. Closing the facility would require me to count money and process deposits, file papers, delegate cleaning responsibilities to the other staff, check to make sure the building was clean, set the alarm, and to lock the doors. After moving over to the recreational side I never returned to the pool side except to help out at the front desk or to teach swim lessons due to a high number of parent request.
