Re: Internship
To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to express my interest in a Summer 2013 internship. I am currently a freshman attending California State University Long Beach majoring in Journalism and Mass Communications. I believe my prior experience in performing arts and media, my current and past leadership roles, as well as my eagerness to further my education qualify me as a valuable candidate for your internship.
Throughout my career as a student I have been blessed with a multitude of extracurricular activities that have widened my range of thinking past the realm of student. While in school I worked as a receptionist in a fast paced environment where I regularly answered phone calls and booked appointments. This allowed me to develop strong communication skills and taught me how to work under pressure due to frequently having to multi-task. As you are well aware, these qualities are imperative for a candidate in a fast paced field.
I’ve always been passionate for performing and was lucky to be chosen to perform at the inauguration of a new performing arts center, The Palladium, when I was in high school. As a performer I assisted with the production of the center and was given the opportunity to interact with various artists, performers, and production personnel. To be successful in a field such as this it is necessary to be able to work efficiently with your superiors and I feel these opportunities quality me for that. You can read more about The Palladium at their website http://www.thecenterfortheperformingarts.org.
As a new member of Delta Gamma fraternity I have undertaken the position of Director of Activities. This not only shows motivation and ambition, but leadership as well. As the Director of Activities I am required to coordinate times and places for members to meet to ensure that our sorority is well represented at events. In addition to this, I facilitate t-shirt orders, which includes, making excel sheets, assuring every girl’s order and payment is accounted for, and confirming every member has seen the order. The Director of Activities must also reach out to members of other chapters to obtain necessary information for their events, thus sociability is a must.
In addition to my academic qualifications, extracurricular achievements, and previous experience, I believe that my resume depicts substantial potential for further achievements and educative growth. I strongly feel that I would be an asset to your company in that I have a lot to offer as an intern, and I am truly passionate to learn what there is to offer. I look forward to hearing from you and would love to meet in person in the future.
