OBJECTIVE:
Mechanical Engineering student athlete able to handle multiple responsibilities with a passion for solid
modeling.
EDUCATION:
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI GPA: 2.943
Bachelor of Science: Mechanical Engineering Graduation Date: Fall 2012
ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
Mechanical/Chemical Related:
Product design and development of a punch biopsy device for the removal of skin lesions with Aurora
UW Medical Group.
Project leader for the design of a heated plastic extrusion three-dimensional printer. Project utilizes
Fireball CNC table, Arduino programming chip, and custom heated extrusion carriage.
G-Force testing of UWM SAE Baja car during maximum acceleration and braking using an
accelerometer and custom LabView interface.
Design of a camless valve actuation system able to be retrofit on overhead cam engine types using
Solidworks.
Utilized ProE solid modeling software to design and analyze a new shifter mechanism for the two-speed
transmission of the SAE Baja vehicle.
Designed a balance stand for the SAE team to balance their clutch components (more economical than
buying one).
Dismantled a Briggs & Stratton engine to take measurements of bore and stroke to calculate power
output and reassembled successfully.
Designed and built a chemically powered car meant to travel 25 feet, while carrying a one liter load of
water. The source of propulsion came from a lead-acid battery powering two electric motors.
Metallurgy/Materials Science:
Prepared and etched iron and steel samples to accurately determine microstructures.
Took measurements on a Rockwell hardness test machine from various types of materials, t empers, and
amounts of cold work.
Determined the stress-strain behavior of various materials using a tension apparatus.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Solid Modeling: ANSYS, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, ProE, SolidWorks
Programming: Arduino C, BASIC, NI LabVIEW, Java, MATLAB, Unix
Miscellaneous: DataStudio, FLIR Thermal Imaging Software, TA Orchestrator
WORK EXPERIENCE:
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Engineering and Applied Science
January 2012 Present
Advanced Manufacturing and Design Laboratory (AMDL)
Working with a team to develop state-of-the-art Lithium Ion batteries for use in Electric Vehicles.
Responsible for determining material properties of components in current Li-Ion Battery cells.
Responsible for verifying computer simulation results of structural and thermal limits via physical
testing.
Preformed tensile testing to determine material properties of thin film polymers.
Testing and applications of a microfluidic device in hope to control micro-scale particles.
Continued on back
Experience with 3D digitizer to scan an object in pursuit of reverse engineering and rapid prototyping.
Experience with multiple rapid prototype 3D material extrusion printers.
March 2011 December 2011
Tribology and Energy Diagnostics Lab (TEDL)
Worked with multiple graduate students in the area of friction optimization (Tribology) for gears and
bearings.
Conducted testing of coatings to reduce coefficient of friction.
Utilized SolidWorks to model an advanced test platform for testing gear and bearing systems while
optimizing available lab space.
Created a LabView interface for data acquisition and parameter control during testing.
Assisted in compiling data and graphs for research poster competition also responsible for final poster
design.
Researched pricing for equipment needed in lab.
Summary of lab equipment usage: lathe/mill, microscopes, thermal imaging camera, CETR s Tribology
testing machine, SEM microscope.
Co-Author of technical papers produced from lab.
