RAMS was a software package for reliability prediction of Electronic
Components and Equipment's. RAMS software helped in identification of
critical subsystems and weak components, which contributed high failure rate
to the systems, so that prevention and corrective measures could be taken to
build reliable systems. RAMS contained failure rate data of 5600 component
sub-type with 332 categories and 27 different application environments.
Reliability prediction in terms of MTBF was a figure of merit, which was
used as specification for procurement comprising different designs and
inputs, for optimum maintenance practices during field use. The following
were some features, viz.: system was defined in a hierarchical manner,
system subsystems & components failure rate was determined and reports
generation with ease. Tree/Hierarchical structure of systems could be seen.
