KING COUNTY GOVERNMENT Seattle, WA September,2011 - November, 2012
Role: Interim Assistant Director, Solid Waste Division, Department of Natural Resources and Parks overseeing a $98 MM enterprise with a major landfill and 10 transfer operations.
Achievements:
* Oversaw all safety operations including several significant improvement initiatives
* Successfully led the organization as Acting Director during several major incidents/crises:
o A strike against one of the major garbage haulers resulting in disruption of service for over 200,000 customers for 8 days in July, 2012
o A major snow storm in January, 2012 that shut down the haulers for 3 days
o An unauthorized, late-night entry into a closed transfer station in June, 2012
* Led and/or participated in several division- or department-wide efforts on equity and social justice, leadership development and cultural change
