Professional Experiences
As Principal of White Light Communications, I have 6 years of marketing communications experience designing
and developing marketing materials promoting the assets of not-for-profit organizations (such as Alzheimers
Association, Autism Council of Rochester, YMCA Camp Arrowhead, Recovery House of Rochester, and Multiple
Sclerosis Society) and businesses, large and small (RIT, U of R, Touchstone Technology, Tradition Woodworks,
Better Light & Power, and Castle Software).
As a Technical Communicator, I have 28 years of experience designing and developing technical documentation
as well as managing small to mid-sized projects for Rochester area corporations (RG&E, NYSEG, Bausch &
Lomb, Nortel Networks, Frontier Corporation, and Eastman Kodak). During this time, I explained a variety of
abstract concepts into a simple, concrete language that non-technical audiences understand. By explaining key
concepts in a simple way, I not only helped these individuals to learn and use a specific technology, but
demonstrated its value to them in tangible ways so they eventually embraced its use in their daily life!
Community Service Experience
As Editor of the Holley Business Association's bi-monthly newsletter, SaltPort Press," I am giving the village
residents a voice in which to share news of local interests; a voice not heard in 38 years!
As member of the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, I am gaining knowledge of available resources.
As Secretary/Treasurer of the Holley Business Association, I am learning the challenges and opportunities facing
local businesses.
As Secretary of the Village Planning Board s Steering Committee, I am actively involved in developing Holley s
Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) - a living document that, under the stewardship of the Planning Board,
establishes a common vision for what Holley will ultimately look like 10 years from now.
As a Corporate Sponsor of the Treasures of Holley Mural Project, I am working with the Holley Rotary Club in
creating marketing materials to promote an eight-panel mural to be placed on a kiosk in the canal park along side
the Erie Canal. Painted by local artist, Stacey Kirby, this mural not only encourages the public to visit Holley to
learn about what it has to offer, but educates them as to the area s rich history as part of the Erie Canal Heritage
Trail.
As a Volunteer, I am facilitating "Expression Sessions" at the Alzheimer's Association. Using a variety of mediums,
including written journals, oral histories, watercolor painting, scrapbooking, memory boxes, and dance, I teach
persons with dementia and their care partners how to express themselves in creative ways, improving quality of
life for both.
