Design and Prototyping an Autonomous Vehicle for Mars - Frank Cicio

Team Leader in proving the collaborative social software model IQ4

deliver a program utilizing innovative processes, methodology and

virtual technology to create an intelligent networked problem solving

community. With IQ4 s technology, we were able to scale other schools,

students and industry partners to collaborate on building an autonomous vehicle

for Mars, using the power of the internet, people and information. We also

incorporated a live feed to NASA s engineers, as part of our final presentation

Innovative Conceptual Engineering Design of a Mars Space Suit

This course with Dr. Charles Camarda, former NASA Astronaut, enabled a

diverse team of selected HS Students to collaborate and rapidly explore,

discover, learn and solve very complex problems by experimentation and failure

in creating a High Tech Space Suit for exploration on Mars. We investigated the

aspect of engineering critical for program success, which occurs very early in

the problem solution process. It drew from the creative side of the right-brain

hemisphere to conceive innovative solutions to complex, multidisciplinary

problems which allowed us to experience the joy of exploration and discovery.

We also traveled with Dr. Camarda and classmates to view and discuss NASA s

Shuttle launch in Florida.
