The second step in the Social Welfare Worker series gained after
a year of satisfactory performance as a Social Welfare Worker I. This
position entails the delivery of financial service programs including:
Public Assistance, Medical Assistance, Food Stamps, Special
Investigations, and Child Support Enforcement. These individuals
posses essential knowledge and special skills, that include
investigation techniques, interviewing skills and stress management.
They undertake complex duties and maintain a caseload of over 150
applicants/clients.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: * Conducts investigations, including in-depth
interviews to elicit sufficient information to approve, deny, or
determine the feasibility of a financial service program, and make
appropriate referrals or proceed with investigation. * Contacts by
mail and telephone a variety of sources to document information on

variety of court orders pertaining to child support enforcement. *
Trains in and conducts investigations to determine the location of
absent parents, or makes referrals to locator services. * Trains in
and may conduct investigations or refer cases for further
investigation when fraud is suspected.
