Oracle DBA
. Primarily involved in writing and testing backup scripts
for backing up the Production databases using Oracle Enterprise Backup
Utility. Monitoring the day-to-day backups. Carried out migration of
OEBU from 2.0 to 2.1. Performed restores from these backups
occasionally. Performing checks on the databases on day-to- day and
weekly basis. Occasional re-organization of tablespaces and database
in general.

to Oct. 1997Database Administrator
: Responsible for all administration activities
having to do with Oracle - installations, administration, server
configuration, tuning, resource consumption, monitoring and planning,
server failure and recovery: The Network consists of Windows NT
Servers and Novell Netware Servers and provides support for multiple
protocols like TCP/IP and IPX. Performed Oracle software installation
upgrades, trouble shooting, performance tuning and monitoring of the
systems.
Major responsibilities
Established and implemented backup strategy, also automating the
process of backup, providing guidelines to backup operators in
Operations Department involved in backup process. Created and
maintained different database entities. Managed tablespaces, users,
rollback segments, indexes, schemes and organized datafiles on servers
and established
appropriate security measures on those servers, which were being used
as application servers as well. Contributed to initial requirements
analysis, database design, normalization, development and tuning for
the CAPTAAMS project, an in-house MIS project developed for management
purposes besides other production projects. Ensured optimal use of the
system resources and tuning the applications running on these systems.
Supported Production end users
Trainer Conducted a six full day Oracle Database Administration
training session for the newcomers in the database group. This
training covered the following topics: Understanding Oracle
architecture Introduction to PL/SQL Constraints and implementation
business rules using constraints Locks Performance Tuning

Project involves the designing and coding of a telephone network in
Oracle 7.1 and FRAMME (a knowledge-based GIS software). The package
consists of converting telephone maps into intelligent graphics that
have database connectivity to various other features. The front-end
system uses this package to keep track of the telephone network in a
real time environment. Graphic design file and the data in the
database are brought together for production on a CAD software package
called Microstation. At the
completion of various stages of production, it is transferred on to
FRAMME.
As part of a team of ten engineers: Extensively involved in the full
project life cycle. Prepared detailed specs for data entry forms and
data validation for a quality checks. Decided on table level
constraints and indexes required for the system. Developed twenty
forms for data entry complex features. Some of the forms involved
three or four data-blocks each with a master-detail relationship.
Coded, code reviewed, thoroughly tested and debugged PL/SQL stored
procedures and Pro*C routines before delivering them for production
use.
Project Tracking, Accounting and Management Systems
Production projects have work orders corresponding to exchanges which
each have a number of maps (sent by clients). Each work order has a
fixed number of Op-Codes, each corresponding to different kinds of
activities performed in the production of digitized maps in graphics
environments. The system keeps track of the number of man- hours spent
on each Op-code. Comparisons of the actual statistics are done with
the time estimated. This helps management decide on issues like
additions of resources and estimates new time of completion of
scheduled tasks. This system also maintains records of every employee
in the organization, calling for accountability of work time.
Information is cross-checked with the actual time spent on those
tasks. This system can also keep track of the status of work order,
i.e. the stage of production and the interaction between different
stages.
As part of a team of ten engineers: Studied the requirements of the
project. Analyzed and designed the entire system. Designed the forms
for collecting the information. Designed the reports required by the
management to implement this system on Oracle 7.1 using development
tools provided by Developer/2000. Developed forms for data collection
and developed summarized periodic and non- periodic reports.

Worked as a software engineer
on a product support information system.
Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis.
This system maintains customer data, products sold, software
developed, maintenance releases, etc. All this data needs an efficient
storage, updating, and retrieval system, plus customer complaints and
suggestions are to be attended to promptly. Developed and managed
these databases: customer, field trouble response, and software stock
record. Also developed a support information system which was
concerned with partial automation of the day-to-day operations of the
SignBANK product group.
