Magazine Design

I have helped launch many start-up magazines as well as many

re-designs for well-established magazines such as Powerboat

Magazine (Nordskog Publishing), Westlake Magazine (Slingshot

Publications) and Trailer Boats Magazine (Poole Publications/Ehlert

Publishing). There are so many factors involved in a re-design, including

A

what the readers think, or what the other clients of the magazine think,

especially your advertisers. I approach every magazine design or

re-design from the perspective of both your readers and advertisers

and combine it with the creative input of the entire editorial staff.

I have won numerous awards for magazine design.

A. Westlake Magazine, Westlake, California

B. Trailer Boats Magazine, Carson, California

C. Truck Builder Magazine, Chattanooga, Tennessee

We are a family. R elated b y blood, bonded b y emotion and blessed b y deep commitment to one

another. Our f laws and fears are all out on the t able. We open up our stor y because we hope it can help,

because people are hur ting and because Mom asked us to . Leeza Gibbons

Genuine is the word that best describes Leeza Gibbons nature and persona. The stunningly attractive and popular television host has given her-

self no reason to be anything else. Her mission in life has become her calling card. Leeza has chosen to use her celebrity status to help empower, edu-

cate and energize those in need. Driven by a sincere passion and deep concern for humanity, Leeza and her Memory Foundation are a paradigm of

giving back to the community. She has created her own right of passage simply by blazing a trail paved with personal convictions. A born activist,

Leeza found herself propelled into her most challenging but significant life journey to combat and cure Alzheimer s disease and equally important,

to give care to the caregiver. After her Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer s at the young age of 63, Leeza had no difficulty taking on the role of

evangelist for this worthy cause. Among her many accomplishments and personal endeavors, the most important to Leeza and, no doubt, most

powerful contribution to our communities, is The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation and signature program Leeza s Place. Leeza states, We orig-

in response to the challenges she and her own family encountered while seeking specific and needed support for her mother, and so, Leeza's Place,

a potent source of information, strength and purpose, started opening their doors in 2005 and it is growing rapidly. (CONTINUED ON PAGE 25)

FISH FINDER

POWERBOAT MAGAZINE S LONG-TERM TEST BOAT

THE BIG

With a ton of deck space, fishing features and a set of

dive-tank racks behind the helm, the question is not what

are we going to do today, but rather what aren t we going

to do. Donzi s 35ZF is one of the few center consoles

large enough for four people to fish from in comfort,

yet functional enough to be able to spend

nights aboard. With features such as the folding T-top,

there s more room for casting and fighting fish. The spa-

cious head beneath the console is a worthwhile addition

and drop-out bolsters let you choose between sitting or

leaning. On top of all that, it s a ball to drive.

Angeles for the week to use the boat in a series of div-

ing and fishing trips and to discover its strengths and

weaknesses. Donzi was kind enough not only to loan

us this sport-fishing machine, but also to fit it out as

we asked. It arrived at Voyager Marine, a dealership

in Oxnard, Calif., which is close to our office, with all

the fishing features one could need, and a set of dive-

tank racks behind the helm station. We were set.
