HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Breeding Manager, Assistant Farm Manager, Apprentice Coordinator, Al-Marah Arabians, Tucson, AZ, 2002 to Present.

Breeding Manager for a 200+ horse operation, recognized by the Arabian Horse Association as the number one breeder of Arabian horses for the last decade. Bred from over 100 mares per year both on farm and for clients.

Foaled out from up to 80 mares a year for Al-Marah and for clients, managed a wide variety of parturition issues.

Demonstrated a high level of success with conception rates consistently in or near the 90th percentile, while managing a multitude of fertility issues with both mares and stallions.

Responsible for the health and well being for the entire herd, with respect to nutrition, vaccinations, forage and pasture management, and a wide variety of equine disease.

Successful in greatly improving the graduation rates for the apprentice program, a two year program in which college students work and earn college credit simultaneously.

Associate Professor/Adjunct Faculty, Pima Community College, Tucson, AZ, 2002 to Present.

The apprenticeship program at Al-Marah Arabians is operated in conjunction with Pima Community College. As such, apprentices can earn associates degrees and class credits for the work and class time spent at Al-Marah.

My responsibility is to develop the equine curriculum and teach the appropriate materials in each class.

Additionally, I teach Biology courses for both Al-Marah students as well as conventional community college students.

Plantation/Cattle Manager. Shoulderbone Plantation, Greensboro, GA, 2001 to 2002. Demonstrated success in all management aspects of a 1200 acre plantation in north central Georgia. Management of two cattle herds, one a registered Angus herd, the other a commercial herd. Daily activities included heat detection, artificial insemination, pregnancy detection, record keeping, farm pasture planting and maintenance.

Equine Breeding Farm Manager. Lazy Acres Plantation, Thomasville, GA, 1999 to 2001.

Responsible for the reproductive management of thirty-five Tennessee Walking Horse broodmares, and up to thirty additional horses including foals, weanlings, yearlings, and geldings used for quail hunting.

Day to day activities include mare palpation and ultrasound, stallion handling, artificial insemination and live cover, hoof care and maintenance, hauling local and long distance, vaccination scheduling and administration, and general heard health management.

Responsibilities of this position also include management of personnel, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
