1996-99:

-Executive Director of Community and International Development for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

-Appointed to the Hispanic Advisory Committee by Mayor Dick Greco of Tampa, FL., an exclusive board of Hispanic

leaders in the Tampa Bay area, created in order to address community issues.

1995:

-Signed, at the time, the largest one year contract in the Japanese Major Leagues to return back to my old team,

the Seibu Lions and play first base/DH.

-Released my autobiography, ghost-written by writer, Kazumi Oshiro in Japanese entitled,

Destrade: The Seibu Myth (Kodansha Publishing).

1993-1994:

-Signed a 2 year/multi-million dollar MLB contract to play first base for my hometown (Miami, FL.) team,

the Florida Marlins, becoming their first ever, Cuban-born player.

-Led Marlins in the 1993 inaugural season in Homeruns (20) and RBI (87).

-Hit the first double in Marlins history on opening day, 04/05/03.

1989-1992:

-Played 1B/DH for the Seibu Lions of the Japanese Major Leagues.

-Led both Japanese Leagues in HR's for 3 consecutive seasons (1990 -'92/42, 39, 41) and still the only foreigner to

accomplish that feat.

-Led both Japanese leagues in RBI's for 2 yrs.

-Was named to 3 Best Nine All-Star Teams (1990-'92)

-Seibu Lions won the Japan Series Title 3 yrs in a row from 1990-'92.

-Named MVP of the 1990 Japan Series.

-Only player to ever hit a HR in his first plate appearance in three consecutive Japan Series

(1990-'92 vs Tokyo Giants/Hiroshima Carp/Yakult Swallows)

-Named Tokyo Sportsman of the Year in 1990.

1988:

-Played first base/OF for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

-Interesting MLB trivia: During the 1988 season, was future Hall of Famer,

Randy Johnson s first major league strikeout victim .

1987:

-Played first base/OF/DH in the Majors and Minors for the New York Yankees.

1981-1986:

-Played first base/OF/DH in the Minors for the New York Yankees1980 -1981:

-Student/Athlete at Florida College, Tampa, FL.

-In 1981, broke the state of Florida JUCO single season homerun record with 23 homeruns.

-In 1981, named JUCO All-American.
