MSc Thesis Topic: Isolation and characterization of T. fusca cellulase E2 mutants .

Our goal was to improve the efficiency of one of the cellulolytic enzymes with molecular

techniques. We picked region specific chemical mutagenesis as our technique of choice and

mutants more or less active were isolated. We characterized them in many ways and finally by

using DNA Sequencing we were able to identify the changes in the protein sequence. One of

the mutants was found to convert the dimer enzyme into a monomer (Thesis Advisor: Prof.

David B. Wilson).
