Estimated pawn or pledge value of articles, such as jewelry, cameras and musical instruments, and lent money to customer. Examined articles to determine condition and worth. Weighed gold and silver articles on coin scales or employed acid tests to determine carat content and purity to verify value of articles. Inspected diamonds and other gems for flaws and color by using loupe. Assigned pledge value to articles based on knowledge of values or listing of wholesale prices. Rejected articles in unsatisfactory condition or having no pledge value. Issued pledge tickets and kept record of loans. Computed interest when pledges were redeemed or extended.
