Wrote and received a Grant that allowed our school to begin the Reading Renaissance reading program. I was on the ground floor of building our A.R. Reading program in 1996 and 1997 which is still a big part of our reading program at Houston Elementary.

I successfully have written 3 additional grants that have provided materials to help implement differentiated instruction strategies in my classroom over the last 23 years.

Throughout my 23 year career, I have established positive relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers and school administrators. I began teaching 3rd grade in 1990 at Houston Elementary in Denison, TX. I immediately saw that there was an atmosphere of excellence radiating from my campus. It was easy to get on board with my school and the vision that our whole district permeated.

Years of experience has evolved into a career where I have collaborated with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning and student engagement.

Contact with parents through conferences help keep my parents up-to-date on their children's academic performance.

I have tutored before and after school and have worked for many years with our summer programs.
