DISSERTATION TOPIC: Determinants of trust among supply chain partners: an Empirical study to
identify antecedents of trust
DISSERTATION ABSTRACT: Reacting to increased competition, companies are adopting inter-
organizational information systems (IOS) that share information across the supply chain partners. This sharing
requires trust. Trust, an implicit requirement of an effective inter -organizational information system, can be
explained by four major environmental factors: transaction cost economics, power of the organization in the
channel, institutionalization and the level of integration. We have developed a framework to understand the
environmental explanations to the level of trust between partners on the basis of the above four factors.
