Teaching Interests
Currently, my primary teaching emphasis is in Accounting Information
Systems and Electronic Commerce. Other courses taught include
Accounting Principles I and II.
Teaching Initiatives
My course advancements include the introduction of WEB-based course
content and tools into the undergraduate and graduate Accounting
Information Systems courses. In addition, I have introduced
advancements in electronic commerce, information security, and
organizational intranets into the graduate course. Currently, I am
involved with the implementation of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning
Software into the business curriculum at the University of Georgia
Course Development
* Accounting 8300- Systems
During 1999-2000 I developed this course to instill an appreciation of
how Electronic Trends are impacting the accounting profession. The
AICPA has identified E-business as the number one technology trend
affecting the accounting profession. Information Security Controls and
System Integrity issues have also been identified as top ten
technology trends. Large accounting firms have picked up on these
trends and they now represent large revenue streams for consulting and
assurance services. Private companies have also been forced to address
electronic commerce due to the immense ramifications it has on
competitive forces. This course promotes the abilities to comprehend,
communicate, and apply current electronic commerce developments as
professionals involved in designing, building, or managing information
or accounting systems. Topics include the business decisions required
to implement, plan, and support an electronic commerce endeavor. The
regulatory environment, electronic commerce architecture, security,
and payment systems are also discussed. The course requires students
to develop their own website, maintain an electronic discussion
journal, and create a functioning business website.
