Description: Using HST Early Science Release WFC3 data from UV to IR to study
multiwavelength morphologies and sizes of distant tadpole galaxies. Goals are to detect
role of tadpoles galaxy evolution and search for local counterparts.
*Paper in preparation for submission to the Astrophysical Journal.
Fall 2005 Undergraduate Research Assistant, Villanova University

Description: Analyzed three cataclysmic variable systems in outburst by modeling their
spectra to find white dwarf masses, system inclinations, and mass accretion rates.

Summer 2005 Research Education for Undergraduates (REU) Internship with the Southeastern
Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA)
Location: Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA USA
Advisor: Dr. Kenneth S. Rumstay
Description: Completed an 8 week research project plotting and analyzing four-year light
curves of selected active galactic nuclei from data obtained both on-site and remotely from
the SARA 0.9m telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory, AZ.

2004-2005 NASA-Delaware Space Grant Undergraduate Research Assistance Program
Location: Villanova University, Villanova, PA, USA
Advisor: Dr. Edward F. Guinan
Description: Analyzed UV and X-ray archival spectra of dwarf-K stars comparing age vs.
period and age vs. spectral irradiance to determine affects of radiation on surrounding
habitable zones and potential exoplanets.
*Work was presented as a poster and in a press release at the 206th AAS meeting.
Teaching Experience
8/2006-5/2008 Teaching Assistant, Catholic University of America Physics Dept.
Taught recitation sections of College Physics I & II and University Physics I & II.
Responsibilities included leading the discussion section for each class, providing guidance
with homework problems, and proctoring and grading quizzes and exams.
Fall 2004,2005 Teaching Assistant, Villanova University Astronomy Dept.
Assisted in astronomy lab taught to non-major students in the liberal arts college.
Required to be fluent in all laboratory computer programs and lab procedures, answer
student questions during lab period, and grade student lab reports.
Spring 2003 Public Observatory Assistant, Villanova University Astronomy Dept.
Assisted in running the 15 telescope in the public observatory. Helped students and
general public find certain celestial objects for their astronomy class assignments and
general interest. Assisted with public open house events.

Two nights assisting with observations using the Multi-Object Infrared Camera and
Spectrograph (MOIRCS) to detect kinematic rotational signatures in infrared spectra of z~2
disk galaxies. P.I: Dr. Susan Kassin (Oxford).
Winter 2009 Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope, Mt. Graham Int. Observatory, AZ, USA
Became a trained observer on VATT during a 10 night observing run to collect H and R-
band imaging data to detect star-formation in regions between interacting galaxies.
Summer 2005 SARA 0.9m Telescope, Kitt Peak National Observatory, AZ, USA
Four night observing run using the Apogee Ulta U55 CCD camera to obtain B,V,R, and I
photometry of seven AGN systems displaying short-term variability, and thus subjects of a
long-term reverberation mapping program.
